Sorry if it’s buried in another thread but haven’t seen much on CJF. Anybody have an update on his ankle recovery?

Low ankle, not high. Probably a no go for Tuesday Penn St looking more likely according to @Suterman

Right. Way back, last Sunday at Minnesota game, they talked about
CJ having a LOW Ankle sprain. Not high, as many thought.
CJ is a quick healer and was considered a possible for the Home game vs Ohio st. CJ might play Tuesday.........idk.

We have played pretty well without CJ so no need to rush things as I doubt very much Fran will. Very tough to win at Michigan State regardless although the odds look better this time than in many previous seasons. CJ will help us more in the home stretch toward tournament play than he will in this one particular game.

If he has been practicing, that is great news. I would not rush it..

Agree. Even though Sparty looks beatable this year in East Lansing do any of you think the Hawks will pull off the upset with CJ? Iowa never plays well there and their defense on the road has been atrocious.

If he's ready to play 100% or close to it, play him even though I think Iowa loses. If not, rest him as I think Tues is gonna be a loss anyway. Hope I'm wrong.

Is there any kind of brace to wear so he does not aggravate or injure it again?
There are braces that can help stabilize, but nothing will allow him to play uninhibited without reinjury risk. The firmer the support, the more his natural movement will be inhibited.

Reading between the lines on comments from press conferences and interviews, my guess is he'll sit out tomorrow and return at home against PSU with a brace. Any significant discomfort will likely pull him from the game, as we've locked into the tournament and want the team ready for the BTT and NCAAs.

Would be nice to have him for psu. While not conceding the sparty game, it's a long shot and I'd rather he have the extra days recovery.

Yes, there are braces and a skilled trainer (which Iowa has) can tape. I believe John Strief retired but he taped my ankle many times back in the day.

CJ has been doing light running in practice. But only short, straight running. NO cutting...

Hopefully he is ready for PSU! We need him to win that one...unless Connor & Joe T can start knocking them down from 3. Those two hitting 3s early against OSU helped keep the defense honest. We would need all of that, and Pemsl to play his best game of the year.

Speaking of CP, if he can peak during this home stretch and into the tournaments, that would be HUGE!

Those atrocious D performances on the road came after pretty quick 3 day turnarounds (outside of the Indiana game), fyi. The MSU game is on 5 days of rest, so hopefully that allows Iowa to bring their A defensive game.

The only games Iowa has lost on 4+ days of rest, is the PSU and Indiana games.

We all like C.J. but, I wonder if we're better off with senior Bakari and junior Pemsl, especially at Mich. St. They may be more poised on the road in THAT environment. C.J. has never played there, plus I felt C.J. was hitting a freshman wall the last couple of games.

On the other hand C.J. may hit 20 tonight.

Robbie Hummel is a smart guy. I think I agree that
CJ will play some minutes, tonight. He will not start, but may
spell Joe T for a bit. GO HAWKS !! #HawksByAMillion
