I would be curious to see it as well but on the other hand that doesn’t take into account state of the game.

A 0-0 game is different than one where the other team is playing with complete confidence and the other is playing with complete desperation because they are down 20 points and the clock is against them.

Ok.

The three guys in question didn't play well. The fans thought they should play less. The coaches saw it and they did play less.

I hindsight, of course, maybe they should have played even fewer minutes. But it's a lot easier in hindsight.

Disagree. It’s never the right decision for iowa to,play zone.
in zone this team is +100 defensive team (regardless of personne)
in M2m they were a top 20 defensive team (regardless of personnel)

iowa went from up 4 to down 10 in 4 minutes of zone,

doing the same thing and expecting different results is insanity

They were playing an uber athletic team today. We will have to agree to disagree here.

There's no way we were going to guard Oregon man to man with JBo, Cmac, or CJF.

Agree, but IOWA was up 4 with < 5 minutes in 1H.....all in M2m, and all with those guys playing

Disagree completely...
Iowa was ahead in the last 5 minute of 1h with these guys playing and playing M2M.

Iowa went ftom ahead, to behind 10, all while playing zone, all in last 5 minutes
Agreed and that was the game. Fran outcoached again!

I also think CJ hasn't been right since his foot injury. He had one shot today that was mostly wide open and it hit the front side of the rim way short. Another 1 or 2 inches and it would have been an air ball. So if he is having some kind of surgery, that may explain it.

Weiskamp was one of two players who showed up. Look at his box score. Nobody makes every shot.

I think you missed the point of my post, that or I wasn’t clear enough. My point was that Wieskamp passed up too many open three point looks in favor of the pump fake and long two attempt.

To have the pull up in your arsenal is nice, but to repeatedly pass up the three for a long two doesn’t make sense. Especially when you’ve proven that you can knock down the three with a hand in your face like Joe has.

The OP’s post and my response to it was clearly not directed at just today’s game. Not sure why you took it as such.

Found the minutes. CJ 13, CMac 12. JBo, 19. Combined less than 15 mins each, or a little more than 1/3 of the game.

KM, JT, PMac and Ulis - averaged 15.5 min.

It will be interesting to see the +/-.
Just heard the analyst desk say a few minutes ago JBO was -17 (or something like that—I already forgot the exact number) but I’m guessing all 3 were somewhere in that range.

The also specifically mentioned that he looked completely mentally checked out on the bench after the F1 foul was called. An unfortunate ending to his career here. I wish the seniors could have gone out on a better note/at least in the Sweet 16.

It was not a well coached game plan. Doing little to get Luka open deep, other than Luka one on one or one on two.

This was a game where Iowa should have slowed the tempo and made those guys defend longer in the half court.

He needs to get further behind arc and use quick release to get his shot off. And he has to look for his shot.
He has the ability to be an Alpha dog but he's hurting team by not being aggressive. This Oregon team was
poor matchup for all the Iowa guards.

If I were to put together a team, I think I'd take Garza an 4 of the Ducks and win an NCAA title.

I think CJ is just not healthy. His defense was terrible and his shooting dropped off a cliff after he hurt his ankle. The first half of the season he was a machine.

Fran played Cmac, CJF, and JBo far too long and it cost us dearly. We may not have won regardless but we had no chance with those 3 playing extended minutes and providing less than nothing.
well, take one name off the list now... I agree, 3 very unathletic guards spells doom against teams like Oregon, SC, Baylor, etc. We live in a bubble playing in the BT.
