Clark tonight

I don't see Clark playing 5. She will be a lottery pick after 4 years especially with the talent Iowa is bringing in. I expect Iowa to have a good deal of team success and I'd be shocked if we didn't make at least one Final Four during Clark's tenure. Next year, Iowa is going to be an elite club considering we only lose Sevillian and Sanders and add another great class. As special as Clark is, I really am just as excited about the growth of the team around her. Kate Martin continues to come into her own and Meyer was a huge spark off the bench tonight and her defense in the 3rd quarter let the Hawks come back. Iowa has a legit shot of 2-3 Big Ten Titles over the next few years. I think this year Iowa will compete and make the Tourney but Maryland might be too talented but next year look out.

At least with women we're guaranteed 4 years but a 5th would be insane. Chances are though she'll be in the lore of Sabrina ionescu when time comes to be drafted.

With WNBA, the player is draft eligible after their 3rd year if they turn 21 during that fall semester of their JR year. I believe I saw coach Jensen tweet happy birthday this past fall to her, if so she could decide to leave early. Sabrina Ionescu could have left early too, but came back to win a national championship but covid-19 had other ideas.

Always thought it was 22 and graduated with 4 year degree or something like that. Today I learned lol nvm the 21 during fall semester makes sense now

Go to the wnba so she can make 65k/yr., or whatever they make?

Lol, why?

Actually the compensation has increased. Top players making over 100k now. Plus she can still play overseas in the offseason and make a lot more. Unless Clark has plans for a masters/Ph.D I don't see her staying more than 4 years. Keep in mind she was the #4 overall player coming in and she'll likely be a very high WNBA pick after her senior season if not the #1 overall player taken.

With the new CBA the WNBA signed one year ago, the leagues top tier players max contracts are around $215k. Rookies start out around $65k and scale up from there on their rookie deal. The big question for the league, is how are they going market the league to increase/open new revenue streams to pay for all this? Here in the states, women's college basketball is more popular than the WNBA.

Salaries in places like Russia, China, and Turkey are falling too. Only one team in the Russian PL (Ekat) seemingly has no budget, while all the other teams have really slashed salaries in recent years. Leagues now also limit the number of "Americans" a team may sign or have active at a given time, although there are ways of getting around this with players gaining passports to certain countries.

Why would someone go make money doing something they love? What a dumb question.

What a moronic reply.

Why not stay around in a great city, with a great life, and have fun 4-5 years?
She's not going to make generational money no matter what she does.

No is suggesting Clark will leave early. But the WNBA is a draw once she graduates. I don't expect her to use a 5th year. She will play four and likely move on.

I think the chance to win a 2nd consecutive National Championship would lure her back for a 5th year
tonight's game was on BTN+?
I wasn't aware there was a Ladies Hawkeye BB game yesterday.....if there was
do you have a link available? If so, I would appreciate one. Thanks in advance!
Do you keep email addresses from previous requests, if not please advise.

I haven't seen Clark play yet so really looking forward to watch the Hawkeye ladies in action next week.

@Gabe Sifuentes - who are the key bench players this year? TIA

The bench has not been very deep this year. Meyer has made the most of her minutes. Sevillian has been hampered by an injury. Goodman Cook and Jensen have shown flashes. Only Goodman is getting consistent bench minutes.

Jensen - that's the one. I remember reading about her after she committed. Very good 3PT shooter IIRC.

I like your outlook on the WBB future.
