Clowns crushing Texas

A few things...

Iowa State isn't as bad as most people think. They have a pretty good defense this year. Any win they can get helps our SOS.

Texas is horrible this year. Their offensive play calling tonight is downright offensive. I really believe their QB can't throw it farther than 5 yards.

I hope ISU wins 4-5 games and keeps Rhoads. I'd miss his goofball sideline and press conference antics.

If the season comes down to the number of games Iowa State can win , then the Hawkeyes are in worse shape than i thought.
Nobody in their right mind would take a look at Iowa State winning tonite and think "Gosh, thats really going to help the Hawkeyes out"

Iowa State is plain and simple better than Texas, no doubt. Longhorn fans have to be beyond sad about that....

OU could have been a huge turning point going forward for Strong...now hes right back in the doghouse and likely done at the end of the year

Announcer just said Rhoads was working on "changing some internal rules" that should help them in recruiting. What in the world could that be?
More recruits like Troy Davis who could barely speak English.

They're gonna hire more people from UNC in their Afro-American studies department.

Help recruiting? Hell, even as bad as they are, they are still loaded with 5-star and 4-star players. Talk about squandering talent. Their coaching is just BAD ... and that makes me happy. :)

It's so weird having Nebby and TX be this horrible and Temple, Duke and Memphis be top 25.

Just feels strange.
Personally anytime nebby is getting wacked around I enjoy it. Put ND, Florida on that list and my day is complete.

If Strong is still the coach by next weekend, I'll be extremely surprised. Can you imagine some boosters reaction in losing to ISU? He gone... for sure by next season.

Cyclones really aren't a bad team. They aren't necessarily a very good team, but they aren't that bad. Defense was playing today without three of its better guys. Lost another one during the game, and two OL went out and didn't come back, either.

Unfortunately, SOS matters everywhere but on this board. Next up for my guys is the Oklahoma schools back-to-back.

I'll give Strong credit for not kicking a FG at the end to avoid the shutout. Apparently this was the first time the teasips have been shut out since 2011, and the first shutout by an unranked team since 1961. That's a long time. Some think Strong guaranteed his job by beating OU -- and how in hell did THAT happen? -- but Texas isn't accustomed to bad football teams.

He's bringing Pitino in for a consultation. The players are saying the coeds in Ames just aren't cuttin it.

I don't know the one cheerleader they showed before going to commercial one time was down right hot as heck. Isu actually has a pretty fare fb team.

I do think Iowa State has a good chance against K-State and West Virginia to close out the season.

Btw, glossed over is the fact that Texas just came off a win over Kansas State, and this win puts Iowa State in 5th place in the Big 12, currently.

Strong was a political hire plain and simple. They need a football hire. Cue all the idiots wanting Saban. Red McCombs better have a plan, he is THE booster with the $$ which rules all.

congrats my friend, that was one of the bigger wins in isu history, it was awesome

The good teams all start playing each other next week. Pretty amazing to have three unbeaten teams and a one-loss team after 8 weeks, but when they haven't played each other, the amazement becomes somewhat less.

I would think ISU has a good shot at KSU and WVU, but as always, the Cyclones aren't deep, and the injuries are taking a toll. Three starters on defense missed last night's game, and another one got hurt. Similarly, two of the better OL were hurt. The next two games are against the two Oklahoma schools, which is not what the doctor ordered for getting healthy.

Note to those of you who know who you are: Yes, I realize everybody has injuries, and I realize Iowa has done a great job playing through injuries this season. But it's reality, and as I pointed out, ISU is usually short on depth. That's one of the big differences between teams that are successful and teams that are not.

Congrats tto the Clones on pitching a shutout against Tejas. Gotta feel pretty good.

If Red McCombs is their source to cure all of their ills, they are in deep shit.

Sure Rhoads will try and milk all he can out of this W. Just like when the beat a 5-7 Texas team few years they talked about that being a big win when in reality they weren't very good. Be surprised if this years Texas team makes a bowl.

Granted I'll give ISU credit they definitely looked like better team on both sides of the ball. Can't believe with all those big time athletes how inept Texas' offense looked.

Sorry, I mean West Virginia who is winless in the big 12

Hold the phone. Did WV beat Maryland? And WV is winless in the Big 12? And Maryland is winless in the Big 10? No. Way. Shocking stuff.

What exactly is that supposed to show us?

I think ISU can play with some of the better teams in the Big12 if they do what they did yesterday. It reminded me more of Big10 football. Against Baylor they start playing hurry up, which makes no sense at all. They seemed to play more like an Iowa team yesterday and a chunk of the 2nd half against Baylor. Run the football, win the TOP and keep those explosive offenses on the sidelines and wear the opposing defense down. Seemed to work to perfection. Iowa State against Texas was men against boys. ISU just pounded those "superior athletes" into the ground.

Texas ain't Baylor. If Texas had a quarterback who could throw the ball, the difference would be pretty striking, IMHO. It's amazing that they don't.

No, but the gameplan described works a lot better against teams that have a talent advantage. Minnesota gave TCU a very tough game and Boykin vs Leidner is a mismatch of monumental proportions. Playing arena ball against superior athletes is not what I would do. Texas put 24 on Oklahoma, they do have some good players, the ISU game plan just kicked their azz. Lanning is a SO, your RB's are FR and SO and you have 4 of your 5 top WR back next year. If the coaching is up to snuff, they could be solid next year. Also, I have no idea how TX doesn't have better QB's
