Glad we won, Spartans made 12 three's tonight! Seems we tried a few different wrinkles on the court with our substitutions.

As for our Coach, sure he will get up off his seat and yell at the refs but my gosh when have you seen Coach M on his feet
applauding, or shout words of encouragement to his players, his team? I despise Izzo and his in the ear of the refs all the time
but also watch him and he is constantly talking to his players. Coaching his kids in game, teaching!

Probably wrong but I believe kids respond to that and Fran just does not do enough of it.

You’re right. You’re wrong.

Izzo is a freaking nutcase on the court. Izzo has had lots of success but I’m embarrassed for him due to his antics. I like Fran.

Well, if you believe that it sure wasn't a good enough response by Izzo's team tonight was it.

I've always been a fan of Mad Fran, but some of his rotations are baffling to me. At one point tonight late in the 2nd half we rolled with I think Nunge, Perkins, Touss, PMac, and KeMurray. I haven't seen an offense look that out of sync in a long time.

LOL what?! How did the defense look when they were in? That lineup was successful tonight, far more than the starters, minus garza, who looked like they didn’t give a shit to even be there!

But the defense was gloriou!

My personal favorite unit I saw tonight was Joe T, Perkins, Weezy, Luka, and Nunge. That was a unit that was able to get buckets and play defense.
Fran postgame said he really liked the defensive lineup of joeT and perkins up top with nunge, keegan and garza on the back line. I think that’s about as good as we can get on the defensive end. And when joeT is playing on the offensive side like last night you can get away with that lineup. He even said he was planning to get the starters back in but that group was playing so well he just let them keep going.
Another thing i found interesting in the postgame. joeT got asked about bringing energy off the bench and he responded something along the line of “yeah we like to do that, msu hit their first 6 3’s bc we weren’t closing out hard and kind of playing lackadaisical, so when us backups came in we said no more 3’s and if there are it’s gna be with a hand in their face” Kind of a shot at the starters to get their heads outta their asses and set the tone early on d!

I love the energy Joe brings. He looks like he has fun out there on the court, along with giving a ton of effort. If he begins to take those next steps forward, we have a good, true PG on our hands.

If he can hit shots from 15 feet like last night he is very hard to guard. And he looked a lot more calm and collected last night, still playing fast but more under control. Maybe Fran told him before the game he was gna give him some more run and it translated to him being more comfortable, knowing he wasn’t getting pulled after a few minutes? Idk, but id love to see that JoeT all the time!

Can we get Joe T some new shoes that might have some grip to them? He slips every time he stops or starts, it's like he's trying to slip it happens so much

His strategy to sub when msu was raining in 3s was a great move. With Fredrick not playing, our offensive production will suffer especially jbo and weiskamp. With Fredrick , the defense needs to help and lets our 3 point shooters have more room. Without Fredrick, the hawks may be better off using the bench more to win more low scoring games.

If he can hit the mid range jumper with any consistency, Iowa’s offense becomes nearly impossible to defend. If he’s defended tight he’s getting to the rim, where he either gets a layup or dishes it to open player when a defender slides over to help, or he knocks down the jumper

Yeah that's certainly visible during games, BUT.... Fran in game is more like a CEO, you will see the assistant coaches in the ear of players and coaching/teaching. Fran has a very good staff and puts a lot of trust in them.

If you ever get a chance to see Fran during a practice or basketball clinic. It is a different look than what you see on screen during a game.

Didn't they start the rally? I thought that lineup gave MI State fits.

Until Fredrick is back, the hawks need to see the bench play more to keep scoring down. With Fredrick, the hawks will outscore you and put pressure on you to score.

That is pretty much the lineup that won the game for us last night. There is much more to winning than making outside shots, although that helps a lot.
