Maybe this has been discussed on here before, but when talking about Ferentz’ potential replacement why don’t we talk about Phil Parker at all?
I guess that doesn’t seem crazy to me. Now if KF sticks around 5+ more years, which seems possible, then sure. He's currently 54. Not exactly a spring chicken.
I may be in the minority here but I would find it unlikely that a power 5 school would hire a coordinator. Its a big leap without any prior experience at the lower level with as small as a learning curve as there could be. I know that it does happen like Chris Ash at Rutgers, Will Muschcamp when he was at Florida and Chizek at Iowa state. With as much money is at stake for the athletic department, I don't think that any coach nowadays can really select their heir apparent. If I remember correctly Kirk did not invent Iowa Football. I am sure he will have a say in who is brought in to interview like I am sure that Hayden did. Maybe if Brian took over a smaller program first I would buy it
Agreed Riley at Oklahoma is a good exampleFive of the current SEC head coaches were hired without head coaching experience. It's not as unlikely as you suggest.
