What a match up. "Batman," prolly doesn't even know an illegal fist to the back when he sees one.
They said he was actually a state champ in high school, although very little about the whole thing was serious. Probably true.
It was hilarious, and everyone had a lot of fun with it. Both guys were great sports about it and played it up. Pretty cool -- a little reminiscent of Tom and Terry's race at an Iowa swim meet a few years back.
I'd agree with look's take above. Maybe very generally scripted, but mostly just Smith toying with him and yucking it up in the process.
I've really come to like and respect Smith over the years. Seems like a genuinely good dude who loves the sport and respects others. There's a long and largely very positive relationship between Iowa and Okie State, despite the rivalry. Smith was great this past spring at the OTT's, participating in a really cool panel discussion, reminiscing with Royce and Lewboo about the good ol' days, etc. Would be blast to have a beer with that dude.

nothing fake about it... you could see how serious it was when the softball coach came out threatening Smith with that baseball bat .... luckily he was restrained
Yeah it was very scripted from the beginning. Kenny ran right At Smith and shoved him and Smith accented his flying backwards onto his back. Later, they locked up and Kenny did a couple helicopter spins with Smith's legs 3 or 4 feet off the ground.
Funny for sports fans. Maybe, not so much for conventional wrestling fans.

From the size of the crowd, it looks like that may be their largest of the season except when the Hawks come to town......
Had a beer with him in Iowa City after Nationals "back in the day". He was a good dude back then too.
Just remember to give him time to unwind after a match before you try to talk to him. Too fast, even after a win, and the conversation might be short. Otherwise, great guy, loves the sport, and MOST of the people around it!
Always enjoy seeing the OSU ladies in Iowa City and at Nationals.Outstanding.
