Coach McCollum will be on KCJJ's HawkFanatic show this Wednesday April 2nd at 9 AM. You can watch/listen on KCJJ's Youtube livestream, and it will be recorded for the HawkFanatic podcast too.

I hope the first thing Coach says is that he wants the blue haired book readers and knitting club members thrown out and banned from Carver and replaced with students. Plus skylights and more lighting in general added to Carver so it looks less like a mausoleum.

I have never seen a person knitting or reading a book at any Iowa game I have attended. That happened what….once many years ago? By one person? Give me a break.

At least those you describe were/are season ticket holders. It hasn’t appeared that they were keeping anyone from attending the game and cheering based on attendance. How many season tickets do you buy each year for decades like the blue hairs. I would rather have someone paying and in the seats than remaining empty like the 9,000 this season.

For your information bonehead, many of those so-called bluehairs supported Iowa sports long before you were probably born. I was taught to respect my elders, sadly you weren't. Students do not deserve or have the right to their seats. They don't fill the ones they have.

I'm sure he's going to want to start off by insulting long-time loyal season ticket holders and people who give a lot more money to the University, the basketball program and SWARM than you do....

Yep. It’s ignorant people like hawkfan2024 that want to get rid of the fans who buy season tickets, donate, and attend games even during the “lean years” while they sit at home in their easy chair watching the game on tv and b*tching about the lack of attendance and crowd noise.

I don't respect people who pay money to go to a sporting event, then ruin it for others by screaming for them to "sit down", no matter how old they are. Also let's focus on what we should all be hating, Nebraska basketball.

I thought the students had terrible seats??? What older season ticket holders are sitting behind students? Sounds like ur making sh*t up.

Edit - and Iowa students abandoned this program when they got down, and have been hard to fill their seat allotments during good years, so enough of that hogwash, too.

Those "bluehairs" weren't supporting either, given the fact that only 1/3 of the arena was filled during the year. Part of the responsibility of being a season ticket holder is going to the games to cheer on the team. If you can't do it, don't buy the tickets. Honestly, the athletic dept should look at who actually showed up this year and give them the first choice in the new seating arrangement. Everyone else can pound sand.

Every college and pro team has season ticket holders that do not go to every game. This is usually not a big deal, because they can either sell them or give them to friends when they cannot attend. The problem for Iowa Mens BB is that these season ticket holders are probably getting "no thanks" responses even when they offer for free.

Funny how no one complains about blue hairs or dead asses for the women's games.

If you look at where the students sit I doubt if any season ticket holders are yelling at them to sit down.

I don’t need any ideas, Fran was the problem and they fired his ass and brought in a coach that will actually bring excitement back to the program. Problem solved! Simple, no?

I was extremely bored one night last season, so I went down to CHA and paid a scalper $5 for a ticket. Sat down in the 4th row behind the Hawkeye bench and right behind 2 elderly couples. One of the blue hairs grumbled at me asking where I got the ticket. I told him that I just bought it. That really pissed off Mrs. Bluehair. She said that her husband always buys 4 seats for them and the 4 seats behind them so nobody will sit there. Ridiculous, but a perfect example of the blue hairs.
