Black or yellow your choice. (or if you're in marketing wear red)
I can not believe that anybody claiming to be a HAWKEYE fan would say that it is yellow and not gold or old gold.
Purdue is old gold. Iowa no longer is.
Slight hijack: Always wondered--do other English language speaking nations have the same silly, I say, aversion to associating the word yellow with their sports teams' uniforms? C'mon, even the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets claim to be gold and not yellow.
Iowa's official colors, not that "official" makes any difference to folks these days, are still old gold and black. But yes, I believe Iowa's uniforms reflected more "old gold" until the 1950s when a brighter version of gold/yellow was adopted, and that version persists today. I realize nobody cares, but personally I'd like to see the Hawkeyes move to a middle ground somewhere between bright yellow and old gold.
It is because our color is yellow, ND is gold, Iowa's color scheme looks like black and yellow to me
When I was a little kid and was taught that there is no yellow in sports, I also learned that there is old gold and new gold (which "slightly" resembles yellow).
