He definitely had the rolls working for him yesterday ,and the one that he crushed that landed just out of bounds would have rolled and buried them even further if it would have landed in. Shout out to Riley moss as well, dude showed up on special team yesterday, going to be interesting if they can keep him under 4 games.

Riley Moss's leadership is a major reason Centennial's season didn't tank after getting hammered at SE Polk last year. He competes and demands the same from his teammates.

Brilliant stuff. Not always pretty, but effective is better. Let's keep it going.

Now when the wind turns. Gersonde has definitely forced Rastetter to be more focused but I do believe the punting situation is set in stone for the season. Cole has a history of being a rollcoaster player. Let's see how things change in 4 weeks.

They aren’t even trying to keep him under 4 games from my understanding.

Levar Woods said a couple weeks ago that Riley was going to play in all special teams phases. He certainly sounded like he planned on using him all season.

Isn’t Riley Moss from somewhere other than Ankeny originally? I heard an interesting story earlier this week, nothing too bad but basically he was in some trouble and on the verge of getting kicked out of high school school until his coach stepped in. Who knows, could be typical small town iowa BS

With blocking he makes the first down.
Except no one knew he was running, so its hard to have an effective blocking scheme set up. You could tell by the way KF grabbed him when he walked away initially, that it was 100% Rats decision to run on that play. The fact that he still punted most of last year, and is the starter this season tells me that he ,"is in good standing".

I still remember Ferentz holding his hands up saying/mouthing "what was that?"

If that was Fry he would have gotten the classic face mask grab.

Oh he got grabbed. After KF asked him what he was doing intially, Rats went to walk away, and Kirk grabbed him by his shoulder pads under his chin, so that he couldn't walk away. He turned that shade of red his face gets. All Colten wanted was to get the hell out of there....

Yep, it would've worked if implemented correctly. It wasn't needed in that game but the point is he reminded people that Iowa can do to other teams what Wisky did to us in 2010. Doing things which other teams don't expect IS A GOOD THING. Too often KF has a dogmatic approach to the game and I'm counting on Brian to want more than execution in his box of winning strategies.

I also thought the press conference was amusing when Ferentz was asked about it. Even though it didn't work and at the time I was like "WTF are they doing?", I thought it was worth it if only for the fact you know it pissed off Meyer. ;)

I always root for all Hawks to succeed, and I hope we keep getting incredible rolls on every punt all season. Truly. But, if when the wind howls or the surface is wet, and CR puts a few 8 yard punts or hits our tacklers in the back 24 yards down field, expect the other end of the stats. Because that's what has happened. Again, happy to hear it. Still don't trust it.

And I see STILL has not shut up a few of his detractors.
Detractor? I'm all for him or an other Hawk to succeed! Period. You have 1 game where literally everything (except the block) went his way. 115 other punters were better over a full schedule last year. Am I supposed to not be aware of that? To not note the potential hazards of that style? I will say peep for the rest of the year on this issue, just for you, and attend the Ray Guy ceremony in person. Pics will be coming.

LOL. I hope you won’t utter a peep not “say peep”.

Not a detractor either. I just pointed out one thing a team can do to counteract a rugby style rolling punt.

Teams have done this but it is risky in a 4th and short situation, lose another defender against a fake and of course lesser chance of punt block.

Lol. True. And, a small fib...just want to add this.

Probably an overreaction on my part. Sorry. Bottom line: I am all for the punter. I just question the style, but frankly, it probably lessens the chance for long returns, so...?

Carry on.
