Concerned about the Missed Extra Points

Should we be concerned with Koehn's 5 missed point afters? That is actually a horrible performance considering most kickers make over 95%. He is hitting them at 89% for the season. We've been fortunate to this point that the misses have not come back to hurt the team.

They're disappointing, but I'm not concerned. It's a concentration issue, I'm sure, and Marshall just needs to focus on PAT's like he focuses on FG's. He's pretty much money on FG's. Overall, he's a great weapon. Just needs to buckle down and focus on PAT's.

They are disconcerting for certain. I'd be more concerned about the kicking game if Iowa's offense was in worse shape.

Maybe the poster whose kid is a walk-on kicker on the team might be able to shed light on this more than anybody here. I don't think his kid is Recinos, I think he posted his kid wears #94. But if it continues, let Recinos have an XP or two.

My kid is Recinos #91. As much as I'd love to have him out there as much as possible, the reality is, it would throw a monkey-wrench into Koehn's mindset, potentially messing with his ability to accomplish his other kicking duties.

We just gotta hope Koehn's focus is good. He's a great kicker (don't think he missed a single PAT last year), just needs to focus.

If the Hawks are up by at least 21 in the 4th quarter and Koehn is kicking well, I think my kid will see the field again.

We also need to stop allowing defenders to hurdle over our interior lineman. This started with the IL game or earlier and I think Koehn has mentioned it also so it might be in his head and/or he could be rushing his kicks.

KF also mentioned the hurdling in last week's post game. It seems like our interior line are crouching extra low. KF mentioned they need to raise up to catch the hurdling players.

Agreed. I believe opponents can't touch the center in these situations. Does anyone know the rules for the rest of the line?

I had a dream once that one of the real concerns about the Hawks was missing an extra point. But I then woke up in 1973 when we were 0-11.

It's always a concern when a kicker develops sort of a slump, but Koehn's missed PAT's are a problem and fortunately they haven't effected one of our games, yet. But he's got to work through it and remain confident.

When the Hawks are up four scores it won't matter.

One of Koehn's misses was on his 7th XP attempt against North Texas. He was probably getting tired or distracted by a cheerleader.;)
