Concerns about Kemerer?

Why the hell would you need a therapist when you can smoke the "evil weed" legally where you're at? ;) Sounds like all the therapy you really need right there, and cheaper too I would suspect! Ha!

Everything you say is reasonable and correct, imo. However, it was a tough outdoor season…..

My concerns are over the activity level in matches. It just hasn't looked anything like he looked last year. JMO. I would obviously love for the concerns to be alleviated, but only a fool just blindly ignores something that is actually happening on the mat.

Last year he was wrestling a lot of DI backups and lower division guys. It would seem to be easier to have a high level of activity against that sort of opponent.

All of the above concerns and.......................

I wish he was ranked 14th right now instead of 4th.

I don't get it……

Math might be hard for me, but I'd rather have a guy ranked in top five rather than top fifteen any day.

Less pressure to start the season ranked 14th. Then as the season goes along and he makes progress he goes to 12, 11, 8, etc. Confidence grows along with his ranking and his wins rather than having to live up to #4 ranking right away.

Not really, though. He had matches against Jake Sueflohn, Lenny Richardson, Max Thomsen and Geo Martinez, who AA's last year. He was high motor against all of them. Hell, he majored Martinez! He was shooting CONSTANTLY. This year he has been startlingly passive at times. Not to mention the gassing. Obviously I would love for it to turn around, just something I'm noticing.

Not concerned yet. If it continues to be a trend then I'll be worried.

Was most likely just nerves/adrenaline dump. I noticed his legs were wobbly early in the first period. No D1 wrestler is in that bad of shape that his legs go that early.

Not sure but wasn't he also wrestling at 149 in these opens.

The attrition rate at 157 almost assures Kemmerer a spot on the podium and it looks like a couple more and you can pencil him in the finals. Joe Smith is coming back from another set back and I'm not sure what's going on with Paclacio. I don't believe he has wrestled this year.

If indeed the move up doesn't present a major obstacle, I think the Hawks will get some nice points out of him!

He's a tough defensive wrestler but not too flashy, in fact, I would say kind of boring. He stays in position and is hard to score on. However, I can't wait to see him and Nolf lock up. It will be interesting to see if Nolf embarrasses him for a while or just knocks out the quick pin. I would think being former Young Guns teammates, Nolf will just go for the quick pin. Aside from Nolf, I think he does well against all others.

I really never got this from watching him last year or his senior year. He seems to have good leg attacks and the ability to pin and get back points.

I'll take 10 guys ranked @ #4 and you take 10 ranked @ 14. While you might show greater improvement during the season, overall, my #4's will prolly mop up against your overachievers at any point during the year.

I'll take the red shirt frosh in a weaker weight class with a few guys ranked higher any day of the week over the kid with 13 other athletes lined up ahead of him.

To be honest, I'd expect many "room guys," to get a #14 ranking in a weak weight class. Give me a kid with bone fides any day of the week.

I wish our schedule had worked out better. The Scuffle leaves a big hole in prep going forward and the fact that Lehigh was our best home match is depressing. We have looked very good so far but the level of competition will tell us more when we hit the BIG10 duals.

I watched a recent match of Kemmerer's and he does look undersized. The kid can make up some of it with his skill and savvey. Your concerns with his recent gas tank issue and not being as aggressive will not bode well for him against Nolf. I would have loved to see those two go at it in Young Guns and am very much looking forward to their match in CHA.

Just hoping all can get/stay healthy!

You're welcome to all the Fantasy wrestlers you want and rank them in your Fantasy world however you choose.

I'm really only concerned with one real world 157 who appears to be struggling a bit for us. No one knows the real issue, but he sure doesn't look good enough to be ranked #4 in my opinion.

I would just like to see his path higher more normal if possible by having him ranked lower and "earning" his way up the ranking ladder rather than having it given to him right off the bat.

Think I've heard Tom mention before that you get what you earn. Let him earn it and work his way up, gain confidence and work out whatever his current issues might be.

I'm not particularly worried about 13 other guys ranked in front of him at this time of the year. If he's got the bona fides you mention, he'll get there soon enough.

If he has some struggles along the way then pretty soon he is ranked 8 or 9 or maybe lower. Would rather see that happen on the way up from 14 rather than from 4 going down. And so far he looks like he might have some struggles when he hits up against some better wrestlers.

No need to fantasy rank. Just compare every current #4 against every #14. I'll take the #4 every time and that includes kemdawg.

He's an undersized freshman wrestling his first big time match in Carver against one funky dude. I watched Diblassiii all throughout high school and you won't find many more funkier than that guy. I'm not worried about his gas tank in that I think that will improve as he adjusts to the non-natural weight class. I mean when you were in hs and asked to wrestle up a weight, against good competition, were you as dominate as you were at your natural weight? Now this kid is doing it against quality D1 competition. It's a little concerning but I think this "gas tank" issue was more about the first big match in Carver, in my opinion he'll figure that out.

:) Well....how do some of you feel now?
I feel pretty good. I was worried about his gas tank based on how he was finishing matches including last season. The OT win he gutted out in the Midlands finals put that concern to rest. Hopefully he can continue to widen the gap.

I feel the same as I did before, when I offered this up...........:D

"Either he'll work it out or he'll get his ass kicked. All up to him. I'm leaning towards he'll work it out until proven otherwise".
