one of the best week, lots of basketball.

One thing I’m shocked about is seeing all these former power 5 coaches at these small schools.

Also seeing all the Big Ten refs at these smaller tournaments. I saw DJ Carstenson doing a MAAC game the other night and now Larry Scorato is doing a MAAC quarterfinal.

Those guys put on a lot of miles on their bodies.

MAAC championship tonight. Big 10

Semifinals in the West Coast- Gonzaga is good

No suprises yet Wofford and Murray state winning their conference tournaments

Bubble teams are holding

King rice and JR Reid coaching Monmouth! Flashback from the past of UNC.

Gonzaga is good, but their schedule was inflated because Zona/Washington sucked, got beat by Tenn & UNC. Did beat Duke though, but they haven’t had a ballgame since late December.

Yup. Fun week watching the small fry get their moment.
Most will end up getting their doors blown off in NCAA tourney round 1. But it's pure joy when they get their ticket punched for the Dance.
And they can look at last year and dream of being the next giant killer to knock off a 1 seed.

A couple mid/low-majors have gone down that may be on the fringe of the bubble. Yes, Wofford won, and would have gotten an at large bid, so that is good. But that conference also has a 25-7 Furman with a 41 on the NET. UNCG, who Wofford in the final, is 28-6, but only at 57 NET. Murray State winning the OVC wasn't a shock, but Belmont (who Murray State knocked off) is 26-5 with a 45 NET. Lipscomb from the Atlantic Sun lost also, and is 25-7 with 48 NET. Obviously these won't all make it as at large, but have each done enough to get consideration and make bubble teams from high majors sweat.

Hope some of those poorer officials, that can't seem to make calls when teams rely on armbars and handchecks to beat Iowa, get sore ankles and knees from all those miles and are unable to officiate the rest of the postseason..............

Agree. There have been a few teams that have had 1 or 2 guards that would plug in nicely to our roster though

Wasn't Belmont the favorite in the Ohio Valley? I assume they are still in as an at large and Murray State was the first bid stealer.

I'm enjoying some of the conference tourney action. Watching WCC semi action on ESPN2/Cyclowns Network between San Diego and St. Mary's. Both teams playing hard in a close one. Tied up with 11:40 left.

It would be nice to be a Gozaga fan. You could make hotel / flight arrangements based on knowing you are going to play in the championship game every year. They are proof that if you have a style / program kids want to play in they will come from east, west, north and south. I have no clue why they don't join the Pac 12 as their conference is a joke. To your point, they are scary good and they utilize transfers!

I noticed they had a few transfers from Power 5 schools. They could move to the pac12 but idk which league is better this year (WCC or pac12)?

Last night a couple horrible calls late in CofC and Northeastern game. The game before an official made a horrible call late in the Hofstra game. Boy some bad calls could of cost a couple teams a shot at a champ.

As much as I love conference tournament week I have yet to recover from the Nebraska loss. I keep seeing all these mid major guards that would be upgrades at Iowa and thinking "If that guy were playing at Iowa he could create for Bohannon" or "If we had a 2 that could do that teams couldn't lock Bohannon down". It will eventually wear off....just sick of seeing these guys that Fran and his crack staff can't identify. I would like to see JBo and the kid from Wofford on the same team. Those dudes can stroke it.

It just boggles my mind that there are so many mid-majors that have point guards that are head and shoulders above anything Fran has had at Iowa.

I remember when Conference Championship week became a thing, it was probably 1990 or so. Me and my best friend watched Delaware win their title game thanks to the greatness of Spencer Dunkley. My buddy was so enamored with what he had seen that he put them in the Sweet 16 when the brackets came out.
Cincinnati (4) 85
Delaware (13) 47

North Dakota State makes it in. Beat UN-Omaha three times this year, which is not easy to do.

Watching some of these teams in these tournaments though, you can see where Iowa is clearly better and where Iowa could take some lessons. Perhaps that's part of the charm of Championship Week.
