you can’t always get what you want!
After 88 years, Bill finally retired. The man never lost a championship game in college and he never lost a “Game 7” in his professional career. He defined the “center” position in both college and professional basketball. The guy was a “ winner” and has never been equaled in team sports. He was a man ahead of his times who used his name and position to champion the rights of other minorities. The world lost a great man and one helluva competitor.
Hail Bill Russell on a race well run!

Bill Russell played on the very first undefeated National Championship team in college who beat Iowa in that Championship game. He had 26pts and 27 rebounds in that game.

  • Bill Russell put together one of the most dominant performances in NCAA Tournament history and USF completed an unbeaten season by knocking off Iowa 83-71 on March 23, 1956, in Evanston, Ill. The win gave the Dons back-to-back national titles.

His Celtic team won 8 straight championships. Certainly in the discussion for GOAT center.
