Sounds like Fran mentioned he may not be a starter, which would be good news for our youth movement.
Except he's not really an exceptional free throw shooter either. I think Jbo is your senior leader, "poise and free throw guy".Connor had the perfect skill set (post feeds) for last years roster. Without Luka that skill set won't be nearly as needed and bc of that I think you will see Connor come off the bench to settle the team and to finish out tight games (poise and free-throws). If this is going to be a team of running, pressing, and shooting he will certainly see his minutes reduced.
Don't be surprised to see Mulvey play 10-12 minutes against some teams as well....I think Connor is a really great kid and teammate. He's a decent player. I just don't think that he is one of the 6 best players on the team today so I'm in the camp that his minutes should come down to reflect that. From my perspective based solely on what we saw last year the minutes would look something like:
Keegan Murray 30
Rebraca 30
PMac 27
JBo 27
Toussaint 25
Perkins 20
Ulis/CMac/Murray 12/12/12
We haven't seen Kris Murray or Ogundele play any real minutes at the college level yet so they may or may not warrant some decent minutes. Sounds like Kris M. might be ready to take a step forward and we can probably assume based on Keagan and what we've heard is that Kris is also a better more versatile athlete than Connor. I would assume that Ogundele will be getting some minutes to spell Rebraca as we don't have another 5 ready right now.
A healthier Connor shot over 78% from the FT line as a sophomore. While not JBO numbers that's pretty rock solid. What I hope for C-Mac is that he starts the season healthy, and has his best season as a Hawkeye.Except he's not really an exceptional free throw shooter either. The Ken Trickey System......take 70 3s....hit 30 of them...VOILA! You've got 90 points plus what ever you get in the paint!I'm 100% all in on speeding up. 100ppg, go for it.
Connor shot 75%+ his first three years. Last season it fell to 58%. I don't think there's any reason to believe he can't get it back up to a respectable level. But yes, when the chips are down at the endo of a close game, I want JBo standing at the line.Except he's not really an exceptional free throw shooter either. I think Jbo is your senior leader, "poise and free throw guy".

If I had to guess, the biggest issue with the drop off in shooting % was the injuries. In 2019-20, he shot 34% and 78% from the line. That fell off a cliff last year to 58% from the line and 27% from 3-point range, despite teams not guarding him and daring him to shoot. After watching his littlest brother's video, I wish connor would study his shooting form! I guess a more reasonable wish is he returns to his per cent his sophomore (freshman?) year. That would be acceptable.
