Cook signs 2 way contract with Nuggets

That is better than I would have thought would be the case.

Wonder what he's going to make on the deal? Is it structured around how many days a player spends on the active roster with the parent club?

I hope Tyler achieves his dream of playing in the NBA and making Denver's 15 man roster. He was a force for the Hawks the last couple of years. Yes, his turnovers were frustrating at times but that can be corrected.

Gods Speed young man

I give Tyler a lot of credit for working his tail off and making his dream happen. Frankly, I did not hold out much hope he would make it this far but this is one of those times when I am happy to be wrong. Well done Tyler!

If Tyler can pick up some advice from Ryan Bowen to help his overall floor game, especially on defense and rebounding, he could improve his chances to make it in the NBA a lot. Go Tyler.

Tyler is now in the same situation as Caleb Swanigan, even though Swanigan was a first-round pick, Pete Newell winner, and unanimous All-American.

Yep. Cutthroat league. Very difficult to make it given the limited amount of spots and the global nature of the game. Baseball is also global but they have 25 and really 40-man rosters who will circulate through and play on a team. Basketball has 15-man roster and careers are short.

I admittedly don't know what this even means for Cook, but it would appear he has surpassed most people's expectations and will still end up in the G-League, albeit maybe with a chance to be part of the NBA roster from time to time (injuries, etc)?

This is very good for Cook. Any opportunity to get some minutes with an NBA team is tough.

The 2 way contract is better than just playing strictly on a G League team. However, teams might go through several players in the 2 way spot.

Such as I remember Naz Long was with Utah and was on a 2 way contract more than once in the same season. Then he would get cut and essentially end up with their G League affiliate.

Each team can only have 2 2-way players, so at least he's considered part of the team in a way. He'll get more money than just a G-league only guy but can only be called up by the Nuggets

From Wikipedia:

As of the 2017–18 season, players earn $75,000 while they are in the G League and roughly $204,000 if they spend the maximum 45 days on an NBA roster.

So that's two years old but roughly his range depending on how much time is spent in the NBA vs. G-league.
