Asked about Taylor and his first game? He asked every place in the country was like Iowa City and West Lafayette since he hadn't traveled in the US. He talked to him about his nerves going into that first game. Said he has done well and there's a bunch more for him out there as far as improvement.
Asked about recruiting of Taylor? Watched his workouts via Zoom and things like that. Said it was basically about a year ago when they got connected and then went to see him. Always felt good about him.
Asked about Duncan and his field goals and his recent disappointment he has expressed? Said Keith is an experienced guy and a competitor. Told him to assess if it's technical or misread of the wind. Think he's in a good place and he has more room to grow. Happy with all the specialists, including holders and snappers.
Asked about dead period and how that has impacted things to recruit? It's frustrating for coaches and players. Iowa's process is methodical. Have to talk to all the coaches in different sports and we can't do that. Now it's recruiting by blind faith and that's no fun to do. If you talk about this team, they are filled with great young men. There are a bunch of other guys too. Young guys are maturing and will contribute to the team. Mentioned IKM and Mekhi Sargent.
