sounds Mike Tyson esque in this vid.

And he says his style is to inform people of his "vast knowledge".. dude wrestling isn't rocket science. People don't need your knowledge.

Last year, Easter was the day after and my folks that know I know wrestling asked me who the extremely annoying yapping broadcaster was.

I told then everything you'd expect. Broken record

Like his commentary or not, he has a big following and hopefully brings some eyeballs to Saturday night. I do hope they move things along quicker this year. It seemed to take forever last year and that’s not a great recipe for reeling in the casual fan.

Cormier on the mic again = fingernails on the chalkboard. Obnoxious bromanship with a heavy dose of in-your-face supremity. Awesome, can’t wait.
Hope he does his homework this time. And if you're going to make it podcast "bro-style" - you should let the other people in the booth know.

I will say - it was nice to have him with the ridiculously long reviews from the finals.

Like it or not, he has knowledge of the sport, or would you prefer an illegal fist to the back?
Illegal fist to the back was far more entertaining than Shane Sparks or old Jim Gibbons.

Gibbons has a wealth of wrestling knowledge but I just can't stand him.

DC, he's not great but the hate seemed over the top last year. Who will be on the broadcast with him?

What happened to having Dake or Robles commentate. Robles was great, heck even the Baldwin brother was better to listen to.

I like Shane Sparks because he always sounds excited. Like a golden retriever. Except during Sammy Brooks’ big ten champ interview. Then he just seemed confused.

Robles is great. He is super genuine. I like Shane and I like gibbons. Yes, Gib says stupid phrases but he knows wrestling. Only think he doesn’t like is disrespect. Desanto warmed up to him when he saw change.

Overall I like him. I've seen the partisan PSU announcers which I like as a PSU grad and I like the big ten guys overall . The guest announcers are a mixed bag for me. I didn't like DC too much. I don't think he added a lot to the broadcast .

I did like Robles though.

Gibbons always describes wrestling in ways that don't always sound great to casuals. He kept saying the guys were getting "lathered up" before their matches at B1Gs. My wife already thinks wrestling is a little gay - Gibbons commentary certainly doesn't help

He sure says some stupid shit. Hips to the party etc but I still think he is asset. And might like guys asses… but nothing wrong with that. To each their own

just an uphill battle to bring in new fans is really what I mean

Baldwin was terrible. I'm not a fan of DC but I'll take him over Dake and/or Robles.
I'd be for adding John Smith as a commentator.
I didn’t listen since I was in the arena but heard plenty of complaining. I will say he’s not awful on ufc so can’t imagine it’s worse. Maybe after the harassment he’s upped his game this year.

I will say this. If he wants to do it espn will Probly keep having him. He has something these other guys don’t. A social media presence that goes outside just wrestling. So if he says he’s announcing NCAAs it brings new eyeballs. The others don’t. This is a plus

Yeah, that figure of speech works for me because I'm in my sixties , but yeah. Anyone 50+ or older gets it. Younger ? It sounds weird.

Nothing to do with age. I've tried to get my father in law into wrestling a few times. Gibbons hasn't help.

If you've never wrestled - no matter your age - it sounds weird. Hell, even for those of us that have wrestled, "lathered up" was just an objectively horrible way to describe wrestlers getting ready to compete.

Gibbons regurgitates same old lines every meet. It is beyond repetitive and boring.

Problem with DC is he doesn’t follow the college season , he’s coaching high school and doing a million different things. He had no idea of any match ups that occurred during the season he did not research at all to catch himself up he just showed up and winged it and he’s a blatant OSU homer to make things worse.

Then he went on espn and Pat mcAfee and yelled at the wrestling community for being mean to him

I get that, I'm referring in general to the phrase and what it meant most of the times I've heard. Riled up might be a little bit better way of saying it but yeah.

Honestly I don't know how much the general public is ever going to get to wrestling no matter how good our announcers are. It's kind of a niche sport, it takes a degree of toughness that most people can understand, and it's just hard to get for the regular person. I think that's why most people like the ball sports or racing much more. They could see what's going on much easier.
