Cornell University student activist whose visa was revoked announces departure from the U.S.

What should the criteria for visa revocation be? Or should it just be up to the whims of whomever the president is at that moment?

It's up to existing law.

The left is going to be really disappointed when they come to that realization.

What political activist have currently been abducted ?

You didn’t say anything about political activist. Are we only worried about their abduction now? Super odd take.

There were literally goons loitering around his apartment looking for him. Again. Imagine in this day and age, in the US, one has to live in fear like this. IRS ****ing bizarre.

Isn’t that what this entire thread is about? Student political activist moving in fear of abduction?

People are literally being abducted in the us right now you dunce. With goons literally stalking him, why wouldn’t he be concerned?
Check in with your handlers. You might get an extra cookie for that one,

OK, someone needs to explain to me why we have 30somethings hanging around college campuses as political activist getting lumped in with students.

He is a graduate student. And one can be both a college student and political activist. Political activist isn't a job for most.

Regardless he and others are having visas canceled for exercising free speech rights.

What your typing is demonstrably false.
Non violent, non criminal, visa holders grabbed off the street by plain clothes agents wearing hoods and masks, not give the opportunity to see a lawyer, shuttled to a detention facility in Louisiana for no discernible security or logistics decision, then deported in violation of a judge's order. Yep, nailed it. Totally legit.

Whatever. Pass the Kleenex in case I decide to cry.
Why do you think America is safer that this student is being shown out? What speech of his did you find objectionable? Do free speech protections only apply to citizens, and non citizens can be yoked out for being objectionable to one person? Would you support President Harris doing this for a far right student protestor?

this is a good point for the people who echo marco rubio and say it's a priveledge to come here and study, so expressing an opinion the current president doesn't like gets you kicked out to of the country is good (i personally think that's bullshit, but let's go with it)

why do these people have to be literally abducted off the street and jailed hundreds/thousands of miles away?

just revoke their greencard (or whatever immigration status they have) and deport them. there's no reason (and it's likely more expensive) to do this is stuff in the shittiest, most over-the-top, cartoon govt villian way possible

i don't understand the people who are normally screeching about govt oppression now cheering this on

You don't even have to be a current visa holder. Just applying for one can get you detained.

This is what the Trump supporters voted for.

For most of her life, 35-year-old Jasmine Mooney has crossed back and forth between her native Canada and the United States, including working in California, until last year, when her U.S. visa was revoked.

Then she got a new job in the U.S. So last month, Mooney, a Canadian actress and co-founder of the tonic health beverage brand, Holy! Water, went to the San Ysidro port of entry at the border of Mexico and California with her paperwork to apply for a TN visa. This type of visa allows Canadian and Mexican professionals to stay temporarily in the United States.

Mooney said she used the San Ysidro center because she had previously been granted a visa there.

What happened next is something she never could have imagined.

"They took me, they took all of my luggage. They took my phone, my hands against the wall," she told NPR.

Mooney doesn't have a criminal record and assumed, based on a lawyer's advice, that if there was an issue, she'd be allowed to go back to Mexico and then home to Canada. Instead, she was detained for 12 days. When she was released, she wrote about her experience for The Guardian.

Once in while she will let her guard down and the true Goldmom comes out.
Then she puts on that Southern charm and church lady civility and tells you to eat a bag of dicks as she announces you are beneath responding to. Then she responds to you two more times.
