I don't remember an Iowa player taking advantage of the 5th year rule. With Iowa graduating 4 guys off the team do you think any of them will try to play a 5th year? Uthoff will obviously give the NBA a shot but not sure how it could/would work for the others. Just something I was thinking about the other day. It would be kind of cool to see one of them play another year as long as they aren't playing the Hawks.

Darius Stokes did it a couple of years ago.
None of these players would be eligible. They all used their 4 years of eligibility. Uthoff 5 to play 4 I believe, but could be wrong on that.

The rule is if the player has graduated and has a 4th year of eligibility left he can transfer to another team and play without having to sit out a year. Even then it is supposed to be that the new school has graduate courses that the old school didn't, but one wonders whoever checks up on that. Nobody gets five years of playing, unless injury takes away a small part of one year, and even than the NCAA has to rule on it, as far as I know.
I'm not sure but I think Stokes, who was a walkon, took advantage of this rule. Some of the players that do this have redshirted one year and so are more likely to have graduated, and are in their 5th year of school.

They've all played four years. You only get the grad transfer if you've played 3 seasons in 4 years.
