Country musician Craig Strickland and his friend went hunting in a severe, springlike storm on Sunday.
Now, his friend is dead and Strickland is missing.
The 29-year-old singer and his friend, Chase Morland, went duck hunting on Kaw Lake in Oklahoma early Sunday morning, according to CBS affiliate KWTV. A search party formed that night, after the two men hadn't made contact with their families, found the pair's capsized boat just after midnight Monday and recovered Morland's body later that day.
Morland, 22, was from Van Buren, Arkansas.
Since their disappearance, Strickland's band, Backroad Anthem, has posted several updates on social media, asking its 47,000 Facebook friends and 21,000 Twitter followers to pray for its missing lead singer.
Strickland's wife, Helen, has also been providing updates - including one that said her husband's dog has been recovered:
"Craig's dog Sam has been found. His boat has been confirmed as being capsized. They are still searching for Craig. Please keep praying."
Gellco Outdoors, a sporting goods store in Fort Smith, Arkansas, posted a remembrance of Morland on its Facebook page Monday, expressing sorrow over his death. Morland worked in the store's archery department.
Just before 2 a.m. on Sunday morning, Strickland shared a tweet from Morland - one that now appears to have been tragically prescient.
"In case we don't come back, @BackroadCRAIG and I are going right through Winter Storm Goliath to kill ducks in Oklahoma. #IntoTheStorm"
The search for Strickland was scheduled to resume Tuesday.
