But mostly cowardice.

They simply didn't have the appropriatly sized testicles to call fouls on Koffi on his home court.

He physically landed on shooters twice and then leveled Joe Toussaint on the most obvious moving screen that has ever occurred.

Fran did a really poor job of putting Koffi in positions where he had to play defense in space but thats beside the point.

Even with Iowa mostly not attacking him he committed atleast a dozen obvious defensive fouls.

Iowa wins this game comfortably in any other location.

It's no diff than our 1st game vs them....

The refs bought them both wins

I detect no lies. Why does the league not seem to want good officiating? They obviously don't care. It's only getting worse. I'm a diehard but not sure it's worth the time investment only to have shit like this happen.

Chances of fouling out kofi when he is POY candidate and at home, pretty small.

If the Murrays were both on from FT line and 3pt line, Iowa wins. Just not a good shooting day from
FT line.

I am surprised Fran kept JBO on bench so much. Not a JBO game.

I don't think that starting lineup with JBO-CMAC-Rebracca was a good combination. The Big lead was with most of those guys on bench in 1st half. Fran went to it again in 2nd half and gave up a bunch of the lead.

Really? You’re going to blame the refs on this loss? How about the poor free throw shooting down the stretch. Had a good look to win it despite some tough calls and horrendous free throw shooting. The refs didn’t cost Iowa the game.
Iowa had their chances yes. Not sure you know much about basketball if you think the way it was called had no impact. Kofi landed on people and no call. Iowa breathes on them. Foul. If Kofi is called for his fouls he's out of the game. Not THAT difficult to understand.

The refs spent too much time watching us on defense and not enough time watching them. Horrid officiating, but that's not why we lost. Got to make your FTs.

Acting like there's only one thing that can determine an outcome is pretty stupid.

If the reffs call fouls on Koffi when he fvcking lands on people, the way they do in litteraly every other game in the world, the game is never close.
Bad calls usually even out in the end ....missed free throws dont! Quit sounding like Iowa State ....blaming the ref's for there losses!

Bad calls didn't come anywhere close to being even.

So I'm going to say what actually happened in real life and not whatever stupid shit you are imagining happened.
Yep ......Iowa State fan!! Cant face the facts ......make a few more free throws this conversation wouldn't be happening.....everyone would be happy and not complaining about bad calls!!! You ever notice that ....a team wins and there's never a complaint about bad calls?? You lose and it's only because of bad calls ......funny how that works??

Fans have been calling out the officiating for years. Win or lose. Have you been under a rock that long? It’s not just Iowa games either.

No, not true.

I started typing this while Iowa still had a lead.

It was getting posted win or lose.

The officiating in this game was completely fvcking ridiculous.

You cannot jump in the air, land on an opponent in the act of shooting and have no call. Period.

That's never at any point in time not been a foul in basketball.

Of course I can face the fvcking fact that Iowa still could have won. What in the world does that matter?

Can you face the fact that if the officials aren't too scared to call obvious fouls Iowa wins even with the missed free throws?

Can you acknowledge that reality?

Its a totally different game if they only call those two blatant fouls that no one else gets away with.

The moving screen on Toussaint was even more obvious. He shoulder blocked him like he was playing football

The unfortunate reality is the BIG has been hamstrung with a collection of the most incompetent stripes for decades. So when you still have that chance to gut out the win by making at least a pitiful 60% of the free throws you have but don’t, you lose.

It’s RIDICULOUS this team shoots 45% from the line.

The refs have been ass all season long, it's gotten way out of hand. Mass firings need to happen

10-22 from the line in a game we lost by 2. God we have some pathetic whiny bitches around here

They aren't employees.

That's one of the main problems.

They're independent contractors who don't seem to be answerable to anyone in particular.

The ncaa should have to pay for full time reffs out of their 150+ million they make every year for providing next to nothing.

Explain to me exactly what one has to do with the other?

Seriously, I can't wait to rip this logic to shreds so lets have it.

God we have some stupid bitches around here.

I've certainly bitched about refs when we win. Hell, I won't bitch, but I have no problem admitting when we win because of them!? Surprisingly that isn't as common...

Blaming refs for an outcome is cowardly.

If there was ever a game where Iowa controlled it's own destiny, it was last night. 15 point lead and a continuous refusal to accept FREE points

Talking about freethrows is brave?

What the fvck are you even talking about? Its an anonymous message board.

So what exactly is the made free-throw percentage where its acceptable to criticize the refferees for ignoring a defender landing on top of a player in the act of shooting? I'd love to know.

The Iowa players made the plays to get his big off ass off the ground and commit game changing fouls and the refferees cheated the game by being too scared to call it.

It's not fear that produces those calls.

You should probably learn to just be quit ....your making yourself sound really immature and quite honestly a real dandy. I learned years ago "never try to match wits with a half wit"! I stand by the fact bad calls go both ways ....take care of the things you have control of (in this case free throws) and stop complaining about things you dont have control of! Or act like a Iowa state fan and pout and cry about the bad calls ....that actually go both ways! If Iowa would have won by hitting a few more free throws Illinois would have been complaining about the bad calls ...fact!!

what else is new? until there is a single governing body with a purpose to improve the game this is what you get. independent contractors at the whim of the power brokers (coaches and commissioners) that run the conference.

It must be how they want it. Its a F joke at this point.

anybody that thinks that college basketball and officiating is OK is a F dipshit and part of the problem.

You responded to my post dumbass.

Obviously bad calls always go both ways. Thats a terrible counter argument to anything I've said because it doesn't address the point let alone contradict it.

You're not matching wits with me...so don't worry about that.

I will leave you with a simple logical truth. Two things that lead to the same outcome can both be true.

Just because Iowa could have won despite officials protecting Coburn doesn't mean that they didn't choose to protect him.

One thing has no relationship to the other. That is a fact.

A defender canot leave his feet, land on a shooter and have no call. That is always a foul. Period. Its not open for interpretation.

If you choose to ignore that foul you are making a conscious decision to protect a player.

fouls are not an absolute value divided between two teams. there is no even out in the end. Thats like saying its ok to be charged with a crime you didnt commit because it even outs with the society in the end. stupid.
