CR Kennedy's Shaun Beyer Committs to Hawkeyes

Recruited as a DE/TE/ATH. Played all over the field on offense and defense. Has very good hands. Size is good and could easily put on weight to play DE. Very athletic. Qualified for Drake/State in high jump and hurdles.

Does that wrap up this class? I guess Fant may decommit? Haven't heard much about him lately... If Ott has a good chance for a medical redshirt that kinda messes up the numbers.

I think you will see some de-commits as coaches get fired/hired at other places. So I would no be surprised to see Iowa's class shake up a little bit between now and signing day.

Beyer is a solid player. Saw him play in a couple of games this year and the kid is stud. He just had a knack for the ball and was all over the field. The good thing is he can play multiple positions, so where ever the coaches feel the need to put him, he will excel. I mean Ike Boettger was a TE out of HS and now is one of our Tackles. So you never know.

Also helps to steal a recruit from NDSU

Really underrated player, will be a 3 star I'm sure when next rankings are out. Iowa should always have dominant TEs in their recruiting classes. I agree that Farniok will wrap up the class.

I like the offer. This class is heavy on out of state talent (not complaining). But its always good to get a some qualified local kids, as they are much less likely to bust, quit, or transfer. Beyer looks like a football player, and I'm sure he will buy into the conditioning program, and he will show up somewhere on the depth chart as a RS Sophomore. Bring me all of the athletic 6 ft 4 inch 210 pound iowa/nebraska/wisconsin kids we can find, and we will find a position for them later.

Love this bit:

Nebraska offered Beyer a scholarship earlier this month. He was scheduled to unofficially visit Lincoln on Friday when the Huskers play host to Iowa. That trip has been canceled with his Hawkeye pledge.

Kid is a Hawkeye through and through, and he's going to be a stud. Man, I hope this starts a pipeline for Kennedy, but I don't know if any kids are comparable to him in the program right now. I haven't watched enough of the games since I've been back in Cedar Rapids.

Hopefully, this pushes Fant back our way. Seems like a good prospect.
Comparable, but Fant was already a Nebraska lean to many fans. I'd rather have a kid all in on Iowa than a kid that was waiting for a Nebraska offer at his position.

I can see it now, 2 years from now...

"Why isn't Beyer playing? Kirk better get his best athletes on the field or he'll transfer!"

Like Hayden always said, "those Iowa kids have that extra heartbeat." And besides, we all know Nebraska is NOT a championship caliber program, so you really can't compare a Nebby offer to one from the Hawkeyes. :D

Will be interesting to see where they put him. I saw him play a few times this year. He is a very good receiver. He can go up and get it.
