Crazy Florida data scientist turning herself in after warrant issued for her arrest....

Meh.....wood
Watch your back bro. She goes a little too far on one axis of the crazy/hot matrix. She has a couple of arrests for revenge porn/stalking type of charges with a couple of exes. Read up on her. Probably gold in bed, but will cut you where you fif you look at her sideways.

Rebekah turned herself in.

Some interesting facts -

She downloaded hundreds of pages of contact information to 2 separate personal drives.

The same message sent via the DOH network was also sent from her computer to two friends prior to the mass email.

Everyone touting her data scientist expertise might want to rethink that. She told Forrest Saunders -

“I’m not even good at computer stuff,” @GeoRebekah told me last month, in defense. Check it out at 8:35 on the timeline:

I'm pretty sure that most people trying to access their former employer's computer system, multiple times, and months after being fired, would be subject to arrest. I'm not sure how this can be defended.

For those saying DeSantis is behind it, please produce some evidence. Florida's sunshine laws are very open. If there's any evidence, the Tampa Bay Times or the Ft. Lauderdale Sentinel will find it.

I found the bolded interesting, along with the $2500 bond...
Will be interesting to see what details come out but she will easily be spinning this still as targeted harassment. I do not believe you typically have big raids with joint local police and FDLE for people involved for computer crimes that end with a charge where the target is released by the judge for a measly $2500 bond, has no gps device, and most intriguing is free to keep on using computes and the internet.

"Rebekah Jones, the fired Florida Department of Health data scientist-turned-whistleblower, turned herself in to police late on Sunday night to face a felony charge and a possible ban on using computers and the internet as a condition for release on bond, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said Monday.

"Jones turned herself into the Leon County Detention Facility," the FDLE news release said. Court records show she turned herself in at 11:16 p.m.

The FDLE in their arrest warrant affidavit suggested bond conditions of "no computer access, no internet access, and no contact with the witnesses or those people whose personal information was acquired through the download."

Jones appeared before the court late Monday morning, and the judge set her bond at $2,500. The court rejected the request to bar Jones from using the internet and computers. The judge also rejected FDLE's request to outfit Jones with a GPS tracking device.

"It was a little bit of overreach, which I think this entire case has been overreach," said Jones' attorney, Stephen Dobson. Jones was still being processed as of 1 p.m. Sunday and was expected to be released later on Sunday, he said.

Dobson said he is still waiting for the state attorney to file formal charges, but regardless said "we will defend her vigorously."

Entirely consistent with the lawyer who resigned after reviewing the warrant and information himself....

She may well have done something illegal; but the over-reaction is what has been claimed as "targeted harassment".

The judge acted appropriately. She hasn't been convicted of anything.

The FDLE didn't target her. They targeted the person having the IP address that breached the DOH system, sent out a broadcast message, then tried to breach the system again. They didn't know for sure it was Jones until they got the IP address from Comcast.

That is not how she will spin it any second now. And the seriousness of the charged crime is a big deal too, in determining bond and freedom given. Had this been for a more serious computer crime, she would have been given a much higher bond, gps monitoring, and restricted from the internet. Her spin will shortly be none of this warranted a big raid and was therefore harassment.

You're probably right. The previous video shows the LEO's serving the search warrant were way more tolerant than they would be in most situations.

Regardless of which side of the aisles you are on, there needs to be extra scrutiny here, because of the context. It's best to wait and let this play out more instead of making assumptions either way. If you have predetermined the outcome at this point, it is likely due to personal bias. As recent history has shown, facts tend to be less skewed in court than in the media. It's too soon to say she is some crazy malcontent just at is too soon to say a bunch of people will end up with federal charges. The courts will bring out the truth, so try to keep an open mind, whichever way you lean.

While this particular chapter still needs to play out, Jones has other chapters that have already played out.

She's already shown she's more than a touch crazy in other areas. That's a fact.

Beyond noting that, that information really doesn't change anything though at this point, does it? It's a talking point that might prove relevant, or might have zero relevance. You can assume it is relevant or you can wait. It's the same type of mistake as assuming the original warrant is punitive simply based on the context of the past. I think it is best at this point to let more facts come out.

I have no issue with that. Including who has hired her in DC.

Rebekah Jones tested positive for COVID-19 at the jail.

While he crazy past may or may not be relevant to the current case, she has shown it before.

As for this case, she said she turned herself in "to protect herself from further police violence". Um... what police violence?

She was a peach while a teaching assistant at FSU as well. Had an affair with a student and stalked him and faked a pregnancy. Also stole his cellphone (she was charged) and allegedly hacked the system and changed some grades.

Iowa guys are thinking she must be an Iowa 15 and are willing to look past the crazy. 😂😂😂😂😂

My ex in college faked a pregnancy/miscarriage and a suicide attempt. She's been a doctor in a fancy town for decades now.
Would you all like to be judged by the dumbest thing you did in college?

I think both sides of this story will end up looking not great. Which just means respective sides will claim victory

She's no technology guru either. If true that it was tracked back to an IP that she was given by her ISP, she's a rube. Hacking 101,

She's a guru when it suits her (and her supporters), and knows nothing about it when that suits her (and her supporters).

She mentioned that she thought the IP address was spoofed to set her up. That doesn't square with the arrest warrant that states she downloaded and saved data to two personal drives, and she sent the same e-mail to friends before the mass e-mail.

That said, she's innocent until proven guilty, on this issue.

She's already proven to be a crazy stalker.

How tolerant we talking - Did they take selfies with her?

Naw... they just hung out for 20 minutes after calling ahead and letting her know what they were up to. Had the same situation occurred with any of us, they would have knocked, given us a minute or two, then broken the door down. They knew they were being videoed. They knew she would be treated as a celebrity by more than a few people.

Beginning to wonder if Finance is the jilted ex-lover.
