Rizzo turned down a contract extension with the
Cubs, evidently not enough money for him. So
he was traded to the Yanks for 2 minor leaguers..

His left handed bat with fit in with Yankee Stadium
and his defense is excellent. Cubs do not want to
spend any money on their star players.

And the Yankees never have a problem spending. All that money spent and they have as many World Series championships in the 21st Century as the Chicago Cubs.

Yuck the Fankees.

Cubs owner Tom Ricketts has sent their fans
into shock. Rizzo was the face of Cubs baseball.
He deserved better treatment and respect
instead he was traded so the Cubs can save
money.
Cubs paid the rest of his 2020 $6M contract.

What was he batting since June, .156?

Only bad part is they couldn't throw in Heyward to sell popcorn.

Wish the Cubs would get rid of Heyward, Happ, and all their starting pitchers except Hinrichs. The current roster cannot hit and is only great at striking out and giving up home runs.

Rizzo landed with a team that will have no problem overpaying him.

Bryant is likely next to go.

Don't forget no defense. Defense is crap.

I think you mean Hendricks.

But they aren't saving money. The Cubs are still paying Rizzo's salary.

The Cubs offered Rizzo an extension of his contract.
But he declined it due to lack of years extended and
the amount of money that would be expended.

It will be interesting this Winter to see if the Yankees
give him a contract he will accept or if Rizzo goes to
some other team.

Keith law rates him as the #34 free agent this offseason- said would offer 1 year at 10-12 million. While I think he will get more than that it seems like the Cubs made a generous offer.

As April, 2024 comes to a close, Rizzo is doing just fine.

He has a .277 Batting average with 15 RBI's and 5 HR's.
Rizzo loves the NY Yankees and has become good friends
with Aaron Judge.
