Early in the year, but perhaps germane to the issue of Iowa's potential. And especially I think if we are trying to judge by the first six games exactly where Iowa is, right now.

We are ranked #20 by KenPom. Wins and losses include:

76-59 win over Gardner-Webb. Ranked #254
103-68 win over Coppin State. #341
89-61 win over Marquette. #88
82-77 loss to Dayton. #47
68-62 loss to Notre Dame. #28
84-61 win over Wichita State. #43

The kind of wins we've had, blow outs, have certainly helped our ranking. Being 2-2 against top 100 teams doesn't hurt. Looking to the future:

Florida State. #39
UMKC. #186
Western Illinois. #179
Iowa State. #16
Drake. #199
Tennessee Tech. #260

I think it is pretty obvious how important is Wednesday's Florida State game. Win that, and we should be reasonably assured of a 9-3 nonconference record. Lose, and suddenly the Iowa State game is very important to prove we can beat our peers.

I like that at this time it appears Iowa will only play three games against teams outside the top 200, at least until we play Rutgers which has every chance to end up outside the top 200, currently they are #222. This was a good schedule and should we beat FSU I'd say we are on par with my expectations, what little that matters.

Wednesday is a must win. Especially being in Carver. Got to defend the home court...and bLeep the ACC

I expected a 9-3 nonconference record with at least a match of wins and losses against top 50 teams. Marquette has surprised me a bit that they aren't close to the top 50, but I think that will change. And yes, as I said it is pretty obvious how important the FSU game is.
