Cyclone Fanatic Meltdown

Enjoy!

One Poster: "The season is over."

Another: "This team is an NIT team at best. They are going to get crushed in the Big 12."

Another: "Losing to a team thats full of freshman isn't very inspiring for the future...ugh."

Another: "I'm at a loss for words after this one! If there was a year we definitely should beat them, it's this year."

Another: "Iowa is flat out garbage, giving up about 90 a game, and we can't score against them. Just an embarrassment. Iowa will go on to have a horrible year, mark it down. ISU can be pretty good if they want to, we'll see if they want it or not? Tonight they obviously didn't want it or didn't care. Looked like both"

So they react like we do after a football loss to the likes of North Dakota State.

Of course Iowa State was going to take a step back this year. Look at what they lost from last year's team. And Hoiberg was going to be a tough act to follow for anyone.

I thought they played extremely sloppy for a senior-led team. I presume much of that is poor coaching.

They're obviously not well coached, but they also really think way too highly of their talent. Morris is maybe a late second round pick, although he sure didn't show anything tonight that would make anyone think he can play in the NBA. Thomas and Naz are average role players who benefitted from playing next to guys like Niang and Kane and getting tons of open shots. Their transfers, Bowie and Holden especially aren't that good at all.

I'm heading to Applebee's for a Prohm while they still have em...

Get the Franwich!

Best chance for ISU to go into long term suckitude is for them to start going thru coaches like water through a hole. They're nice and entitled now

They miss Niang and that athletic center they had last year--mckay?

Anyway, they look kind of mediocre. Iowa played very well.

That and making a public ordeal about how you plan to rub it in on your rivals home court doesn't bode well either. If you're that cocky, you deserve to get a nice helping of humble pie.

I wasn't all that shocked by what Morris and Long said pregame. I was shocked at apparently Iowa State felt like all they needed to do was show up and Iowa would roll over. It's only 1 game, but not good when you start 5 seniors and they just don't give effort.

I've never been impressed by Prohm at all, he took over a lot of talent last year and barely went .500 in the B12.

Prohm inherited a great team last year and got lucky to get Morris and long for this year. Be interesting to see if he can keep hoibergs success rolling or if he is another coach whose peak is with other coaches player like Bruce Weber who won at Illinois with bill self players. With him losing 6 seniors they could be in for a long year next season. He better not F it up and miss the tourney this year.

Thanks to the poster who posted the link to their Iowa Post game thread. 18 pages already and it's only early the next morning? Damn. Some posts are comical, others are head scratching. Very little credit given to Iowa, mostly calling out how bad Prohm is coaching the team. Maybe Iowa was better than it's 4-5 record going into last night. Maybe ISU wasn't as good as their 6-2 record going into last night. Only time will tell.

The one post that stands out in my mind finished by saying that Iowa wouldn't play another game like last night the rest of the year. Seriously? Only a cyclown fan being butthurt that their overrated and overcocky team lost to a young, inexperienced but ever improving Iowa team would say that. Iowa is definitely trending up. The offense is there and if they play D going forward the way they did last night watch out. Not saying book your tickets to the final four but another invite to the big dance is certainly attainable. ISU on the other is trending down, IMO. Iowa exposed them last night and they are going to play plenty of teams in the Big 12 that are more talented than Iowa. Let's see how each team fares the rest of the year. Go Hawks!!

When Fred gets fired by the Bulls, ISU will then fire Prohm and hire Fred back, and they can start buying blue chip players again.

Hoiberg will be ISU's next coach....guaranteed.

I don't see it. He used them like a cheap hooker to boost his coaching career. Basically agreed to let him use free agency, no matter what the issues with the kid to win as many games as fast as possible and to GTFO. He's on to greener pastures.

More power to Fred. It was within the rules and the clowns agree to it.

Their thread is 19 pages because each page only has 5 responses on it. Talk about dramatic and over the top too. I'm shocked some didn't go to Hilton afterwards last night and jump off.

When did ISU think they are a really good basketball program? Until Fred arrived, they were horrible. After a couple sweet 16's they think they are Kansas-esque. Too funny. And they only overtake KC because it's less than three hours away, plus nothing else to hang their hat on. Poor, poor, Cyclones! LOL.

Coming back to a harsh reality up there in Ames, Hoiberg era is officially over. Fran did a heck of a job last night, undoubtedly a better coach than Prohm. Jok proved he's the best player in the state while Monte and Co. have yet to walk the walk.

Well.....I"m giving the credit to Iowa last night. They took ISU out early and got in their heads. I don't know about how good of a coach Prohm is but I noticed in his first year, in a locker room shot, after a big win, the team didn't seem to feel comfortable with him and he looked kind of like he wasn't part of the celebration. It was just odd.

Morris and Long's smack made it that much sweeter.

I don't think so. Especially with his heart condition, he has said in interviews before that he won't coach for a really long time. Plus I think he hates recruiting (nothing wrong with that, I would too).

As I'm a fan of schadenfreude, I went and checked it out.
10/10, as advertised. Would try again.

My favorite is that a recurring trope is calling it "Iowa's superbowl," when, based on the commentary leading into the game and this yearly series in general, I'm 100% sure it's the other way around.

They really do, they think they basically would have went to the Final Four if they hadn't had to play Kentucky, then they would have again the next year if they didn't lose to Ohio St, then of course the year Niang was hurt that was basically a guaranteed national title, the UAB loss year, they were at least going to the elite eight too.

I though one post in particular tells the story to that thread. The poster thanked ISU for making HIM look bad because ISU basketball was the only thing he could brag about.

My gawd, it must be a terrible life to have to live it like that type of sports fan.

As with anything, the truth to be told from last night is somewhere in between. Has Iowa turned a corner? Maybe. Does ISU totally suck. Doubtful.

It's a reason to hope for this year yet for Iowa fans, and a reason to re-assess what this year might be for ISU fans. Iowa is going to be up and down all season (great experience for the future), and ISU's senior laden squad should eventually get better, but the ceiling probably isn't as high as ISU fans probably thought it was.

But it sure felt good to beat ISU, that much I am certain of. Good job, Hawks.

Love how clone fans consider themselves a "basketball school". Made sweet 16 like 3 times in last 15 years. Only reason they think this is because they suck so much in football. Can't wait till next years game in Hilton when cook and our super sophs beat them by even more.
