Wartburg looking good.
Couple of names associated with Ames Community College doing well, so far.

They shit the bed this round. Only 1 of 6 semifinalists won their match and Pins lost on the back so now in 7/8 place match. Wabash could be in the lead if they win the 197 match they are leading. Keller has been a drop off from Miller. If they don't rebound on the back side then it's an epic failure.Wartburg looking good.

Anyone they hired was going to be a drop off from Miller. It's like saying whoever Iowa hired after Gable was going to be a drop off. Well no shitThey shit the bed this round. With the free year last year this tournament has 5 years of wrestlers competing in it. Or, in other words, the rest of d3 has the Warburg rules applied to them as well.
*edit: is Briggs in his 8th year of college?
Correct and I know. But in D3 you are either Wartburg person or you hate them. I hate them.I have zero connection or affiliation with Wartburg but it’s funny an Iowa fan would say something like this. Also funny you think there are different rules for Wartburg. Sounds like the silly PSU complaints on here.
Kyner at 125 just gave up a lead and lost in the conso semis. The collapse might be on.
Edit: and Rumph just got stuck by a Wabash guy after he was ahead.
The change in qualifier has had a huge impact on wrestlers from the iiac/arc. I didn't look this year but in years past, the qualifier has had 5 of the top 12 at a weight and only 2 move on.Putting my hatred of warts aside. D3 is seeing a huge balance of power swing. The old days of the battle of the burgs is over. The Iowa conference (ARC) has 1 finalist.

The lower Midwest region is bear to get qualified out of, but didn't show as well this year as it has recently. The change in qualifier has had a huge impact on wrestlers from the iiac/arc. Wasn’t he pretty young at the time ?Was TJ Miller ever a consideration to take over when Jim retired? I don’t follow closely enough to know if the timeline would have matched up, but TJ seems to have a lot of positive momentum at Loras.
That’s very possible. He’s still pretty young.Wasn’t he pretty young at the time ?
I'm pretty sure he was a young coach at a HS in Louisiana at the time. Was TJ Miller ever a consideration to take over when Jim retired? I don’t follow closely enough to know if the timeline would have matched up, but TJ seems to have a lot of positive momentum at Loras.
Alvernia was at the DSM airport Sunday when we were waiting to take off. Just a few guys and a coach.Of note to me: 4 schools had their first AAs: Alvernia, Averett (2), Castleton and Southern Virginia and 4 more had their first national champions: Milliken (Ryan Birt's son), Mount Saint Joseph, North Central (2) and Stevens Institute of Technology. Baldwin Wallace had its first champion in 33 years. North Central tied for third with Augsburg in the team race, their first top ten finish.
I like to think that this speaks to the quality of the growth In Division III wrestling.
He Coached as an Assistant at Wartburg for 2 years after graduation (he graduated in 2008), then went to Holy Cross High School in Louisiana for 5 years, as an Assistant and eventually Head Coach I believe (they appear to be a powerhouse in that state). Jim retired after 2013 season I believe, so yeah, T.J. would have been pretty young, but 3 years later he became Head Coach at Loras. Was TJ Miller ever a consideration to take over when Jim retired? I don’t follow closely enough to know if the timeline would have matched up, but TJ seems to have a lot of positive momentum at Loras.
