Williams has not shown much of anything in the 5 games that I have watched. He picks up his dribble to early and is slow on his reads.

Dailey in the limited minutes appears to have good ball handling skills. I would like to see more of Dailey and less of Williams.

This team is missing a lot and a good ball handler is only a start. Williams just doesn't look comfortable in the role he is having to play.

I'll throw in my obligatory "fan of Dailey" opinion. I see the same thing, Triton, and hope we hang on to Dailey with likely very limited playing time. What I liked most was his calmness and ball delivery in traffic. I hope he decides to be a great defender, as Fran has showed love to defense over everything else.

More dialey, less jbo

Williams came from a really small high school in
Illinois. He never played in a league with good players.
He was never challenged in high school and played
down to the caliber of the competition. He is actually
lost in the Big Ten.

Yeah I agree someone needs to step up and be able to break down the defense by either driving to Hooper driving and kicking at Williams just seems to dribble it out front not sure about daily and at least Bohannon will take a shot or two I think you'll be pretty decent down the road

Í just wish I had the opportunity to actually watch the team play. I am tired of the games not being televised!!

I don't think either is ahead of Bohannon in another month. Bohannpn is better right now. Dailey and Williams played against lesser competition than JoBo did in the MVC in Iowa. Bohannon never made the state tourney, like Pemsl did three straight years, but he has been through the high school wars and his all-around skills, especially leadership, are better than Dailey and Williams. He's been a little off target shooting, but he is due for some big scoring games.

Do you know what class Dailey's high school was in Ohio?
I don't know for sure about Dailey's competition in high school but I know the state of Ohio has some pretty good high school basketball so I'm skeptical on whether or not JoBo played against better competition than Dailey.
I agree about Williams though. 2A in Illinois is a lot like 2A in Iowa.

Both Williams and JBo have been bad running the offense and neither one even resembles what a pg should look like, imo. Of course neither one was a pg at anytime in their basketball careers and JBo physically will always have trouble competing given his diminutive stature and athletic skills.

If Fran votes by minutes played, Bohannon has logged more minutes and has scored more points than either Williams or Dailey in the first six games. Looking at the Iowa stats charts, the only category Dailey and Williams are high in is Williams' steals, and they are pretty puny numbers.

I don't see Bohannon as answer---looks like a role player backup PG.

I don't see Connor McCaffery as a step up at PG. More of the same, guy at wing size that can't guard and without the quicks/hops to get to drive to hoop.

Fran is bringing in more wings/bigs and has nobody with quicks coming in.

Fran needs to jettison someone from his staff and hire a recruiter or take the Creighton approach and get some transfers, juco players, etc., in to fill key holes. Cole Huff would be a huge help. The positionless basketball some tout is a joke. We get broken down defensively by average guards with a jab step, which leads to blow by layups or easy assists. Offensively we have nobody capable of dribbling north-south, so it's all this side to side action until they pick up their dribble and try to throw a bounce pass to the guy they have stared down for 5 seconds.

I never thought I would look on back on the Bryce Cartwright days as some of the better PG play during the Fran era.

Fran has to look at the transfer market. His refusal to do so in the past has left the team with gaping holes which could last for 2 or more season's and unfortunately canceled any momentum his program has got going.

The fact we are getting very little production from guys that have been in the program 2 or more years other than Jok showcases the problems we are having in recruiting. Programs like Iowa need to sustain momentum you can't take a year or two off where you become a bottom feeder again.

I don't think McCaffery is seen much as a PG. He was earlier in high school but recruiting services seem to view as a wing player. I think they are correct

This could be the dumbest post ivecseen on the bb board in some time.
Have you watched the games thevlast week?
Jbo looks like he should be coming off the bench for Coe.

I agree with East Iowa Hawk. To me, Bohannon is our best current option at the point. He definitely isn't bashful shooting. But he really has to come a long ways in limiting his turnovers. If he can do that, he will see the biggest amount of minutes.

When did Fran refuse to look at the transfer market? Just the opposite. He went after Huff and has tried to get a transfer player almost every year he had been here. Forget about Uthoff? But it has to be the right fit and it takes two to tango.

Connor would be competing well with our current PGs. He certainly understands the system.

I don't disagree with that statement at all.

However for Iowa to have sustained success, they need more explosive playmakers at PG than Conor or Iowa's current options

Regardless whether it is Bohannon, Williams, or Connor next year, none of these guys move the needle at the most critical spot on the floor. I am not asking for a Ulis clone, just a serviceable big ten point guard like Wisconsin seems to get year after year. Jimmy Jackson's kid would have looked like Chris Paul at Iowa.

watch tonight at 8 ; on espn2
You better believe I'm watching tonight. really impressed with pemsl, Bohannon, and Moss so far. I think we play better team ball with cook out. if cook can come back playing better team ball, he should start instead of Baer. I love that line up

Would like to see Dailey instead of Williams and Ellingson too. Dailey has a nice game but never get the chance to show it.
