Dale Jone's Commits Pool...what time do we find out?

Monday at 3:30pm. Just in time to make the 5pm news with a good story on DJ and his fellow recruits.
Any idea why Jones is slow walking his Iowa scholarship offer? Other offers under serious consideration?
Jones is an older player (relatively speaking) so IMO the additional time to discuss his visit with his JUCO coach doesn't make much sense ...... unless you are mulling competing offers, or something unrelated -like a GF or a desire to live outside Iowa, e.g.

I know he was on campus , there have been sightings. WTF is going on with this mystery man. Someone is bogarting info.

I'll admit I haven't followed this recruitment at all. Where in Iowa is Dale originally from, and how many years of eligibility will he have left? 2 or 3? He'd be able to play here next year, right?
His Juco coach apparently likes to have complete control over his players' recruitment and doesn't let them commit without his approval. I won't say anything beyond this.

He was at Tyler JC for 3 seasons, missed last year due to ACL. So he'll have 2 left at Iowa
Not sure how he can even control that really.
A kid can do whatever the hecks he wants to, especially if he has used all all his juco eligibility.

I was reading a bit on Iyke committing to UCLA, and some player that went from Tyler CC to UTEP to the NBA's Bulls to the NBA All STAR team.......
...and some other stuff.
This coach, Marquis or whatever his name is...it sounds like he is VERY involved in making sure his kids get educated (six sophs this year, all graduating from their 2 year program) and moving on to bigger and better things.
What he could do..is use his "authority" as a Juco coach who may have desirable players for years to come, to maintain a certain control and protection of his current guys. (From the pressures of four year schools)
As long as we end up getting Dale Jones as a Hawkeye, where he will be close to his parents and in a good school and program, I'll fell pretty good about how the coach at Tyler CC takes care of his guys.
But I admit, it seems like this has gone on just a little long...if Jones was visiting with his parents I would have thought that was good enough to decide.
I'm GETTING nervous. Curse Rob Howe for his twitter saying he knew something and posted it n his premium site. I've tried all day to break into it (I NEVER successfully do that to the Rivals site.) or find an informant spilling the beans. No luck!!!
It's not control, it's more he wants to make sure the kid isn't rushing into anything and is considering everything. Education, major, mesh with the other players, style, etc. From what I've seen and heard he just doesn't want his guys to make bad decisions for the wrong reasons.
I wouldn't worry about a commitment, you just might not hear for a day or two.

You would think that Jones would be really excited having an opportunity to play in the B1G in his home state, when he wasn't really on anyone's radar until a few months ago. Maybe there isn't anything to worry about, but the lack of communication is unusual.
You "won't say anything beyond this" because you lack any information other than what you've read in the Lounge.
Ha ... BUSTED ... Too funny ... I love when people post random comments like that where they allude to having "inside" information but they can't share more ... Too funny that they guy's source is what he read in the Lounge.
I will add, I have zero direct or indirect knowledge of what's going on with Jones' recruitment. I do have some anecdotal knowledge about Marquis, as I have a couple of friends that played for him when he was still coaching in Iowa. Considering they played at different schools at different times but have similar experiences, it tells me that he's been, at least in the past, pretty consistent. I would assume that he still does basically the same thing, with tweaks based on current school and individual athlete situations.

Hey is this guy really that good? Just asking, I don't follow that close to recruiting. It seems from all the angst that this is a really big deal?

Separate but recruiting related note, does anyone know how Atwood did? That was a pretty big letdown IIRC. I live in Phoenix and din't hear a thing about him. Although down here you really have to follow the team to hear much since there is so much going on sports-wise.

He was a 6'5" to 6'6" wing player in H.S. and has since grown to 6'8" 220lbs. and still is a high volume scorer and efficient shooter. Takes a lot, but makes a lot of 3 point shots.
His game translates very well because he can shoot the ball from inside and out, and can shoot it well with a hand in the face.
I really like this addition.

Fran has never struck me as all that fond of big men who shoot 3's from the outside although he hasn't really had that with Woodbury and Olesani. If he really has only grown to 6'8" Jones doesn't seem all that "big". I would think Fran would want a forward who plays more on the inside. If more talented with two years of experience Jones will likely play ahead of the other recruits but it seems like we have quite a few bodies in that size range. I don't really get it. As Fran says we will have a different team next season but the drop off in size seems significant.
Highly unproductive. He ended the season as the 9th or 10th man for ASU, averaging like 2 pts and 2 boards a game or something like that. Speculation around here suggested that when he came here for his visit, he got worked in pick-up games pretty good and both sides backed off.
I thought so too at first, but really all we're losing size wise is a 6'11 guy since White and Jones are the same size. Granted, that 6'11 guy is a pretty big loss. That is where we'll need to see who steps up to replace Olaseni's production.
