Dan Barreiro and Glen Mason talking about Fran looking disinterested

It reminds me at times of the Oregon game in the Tournament. At least to me he had accepted defeat early.
Then appeared to walk up and down sidelines disinterested.

I think it’s more defeat. He has to know by now the teams he built at Iowa have all been seriously flawed. He got lucky with his best teams and players ( Garza, the Murrays, etc.) His system can score points but doesn’t do the other things critical to winning like defense and rebounding.

Got lucky to have them turn out as good as they did, but still couldn't do anything of any real import with them.

(aside from winning the BTT in the Murrays' sophomore season)

I think a lot of posters now realize his system is flawed, though he is a consistent 0.500 conference coach. I don't think Fran himself thinks his system is flawed---if he did, he would have grown/learned over the years as a coach and made some changes in style.

When you have a coach that surrounds himself with Yes-men coaches like he had in Speraw and Dillard, its all Fran's show because Fran thinks he is smarter than his staff. His disinterest now suggests he is leaving Iowa City one way or the other. Their boy killed a jogger---that isn't a pleasant thing to be reminded about. Connor is at Butler. Jack will be there. My take is the family are heading to Indy. If Fran gets fired, he takes $6 million buyout with him. Tanking just makes his postion stronger to get all the buyout money and maybe look for a mid major job and bring Jack with him to his next stop, if he wants to continue coaching.

The small ball lineups he is putting out in B1G games are not working. If he were concerned about his legacy he'd be trying to win. If he is trying his best to win right now and this is what we get out of him, then maybe he is just incompetent.

I worry if we fire Fran. Will be lick the time Dr Tom got the boot then Steve Alford that was bad . Then we got todd we fell into a deep hole . So please take a deep breath it could be worse.
It has a much better chance of being a hell of a lot better than it does being Lick level……..

And honestly, at this point, who cares. It’s not like our results are anything to write home about, as it is.
