Well, they always have a play of the day and picked this. I forgot to say they also played McCaffery's post game comments about it.
There is a 6 page thread on what happened, not being a jerk you can just reference it if you want.
The skinny is that ND was not playing clean during multiple points of the game and it all came to a boil in the last minute. They guard Hooker (Amani Hooker on the football teams brother- who was wearing all ND stuff by the way) did get knocked in the face by Bohannon with a minute to go while we were up 11. He flopped HARD and got Bohannon a technical. Then after more time ran down there was a pretty unnecessary hard-ish foul on Jok.
After they missed coming down after the Jok free throws they were giving up. Baer came down and was hanging on to the ball. A guy ripped the ball out with 2 seconds and tried to go get a layup. Their coach was pumped and signaled that the bucket should count even though the refs waived it off enthusiastically signifying the busch league move.
Jones was not happy about that play or the hoop that didn't count. Go back and watch the end of the broadcast, you clearly see Jones not amused with the steal or pass.
What? He was making the count it sign. Thats what caused Fran to lose it.
From what I've seen, and I've watched it a few times now, you are both correct.
Initially when the player steals the ball from Baer, Jones looks upset, but then when it appears the basket is made, he makes the "count it" signal. Very odd behavior and really does make one wonder if the point spread of 11 mattered in some way to him?
I can't get enough of the DP Show, listen to it every morning. They're literally the only sports talk show I don't get annoyed with. Nobody really took a stance on it either way this morning, but I was glad Seton stepped up for us. Also, we need to send in some Iowa gear for them to throw up in the man cave. Noticed there a "it's great to be a hawkeye" sticker on the side of somebody's desk, but we need more!
LOL! Wilbon said McCaffery is the Bo Pelini of basketball and the university presidents should sit coaches like this down.
It also looked like a ND player hit PJ in the nuts earlier in the 2nd half too. Apparently, ND is renowned for "dirty play" in their conference since Jones got there.
