Dang He's (Historically) Good!

We are experiencing a monumental season. I've been a Garza fan from the beginning, but I never anticipated that he would elevate his game to historical levels. If he comes back next season, even if he doesn't raise his game on iota, he will become one of Iowa's All-Time Greats.

It was his 12th consecutive game of 20 points or more in Big Ten play, the longest streak for an Iowa player in 49 seasons and the most by any conference player in the last 20 years.
This is just remarkable.

I saw that and think that is really surprising. There have been a lot of great scorers.

Garza has been so effective and even with the other teams focusing on him.

^^^THIS.
I've also thought Luka got undersold the past 2 years, when he often went for 20 points, when the 'stars' of the team, scored in single digits.
Just saying................

One of his baskets last night had two Buckeyes literally mugging him and he still made it. I'm not the biggest fan of the muscle poses, celebrate with team mates but no one needs to call attention to themselves like that. Everyone does it now days so it must be this generation. Many coaches would drool to have him. ESPN wishes he played for one of their HYPE teams because of course IOWA, just not sexy enough for them.

He isn't already one of the greats? This season is enough if these guys make a run in March.

I think the muscle poses and individual stuff really gets him going and engaged. I am not going to tell him to do anything different since he has been killing it.

Everyone was tired of a team with no swag... well, I give you the 2019-2020 Hawks.

Agreed, the Aaron White Hawk teams that got pushed around, mugged and headlocked needed some of that swag, although I do agree I'm not crazy about ALL the flexing and posing.

This years team more than any other I can remember has the best defensive hands. We poke the ball loose, deflect passes, pick pockets, force jump ball possession changes, it is so clear to see. Kinda started with Toussant and spread to the rest of the team.
And CJF....

Those two have been the most important pieces by far, when talking about the improvements we've made defensively. (which I understand might not reflect statistically, but it is noticeable to us Iowa fans when comparing last year's team to this year's.)

Not 100% sure but he might be the only B1G guy to have 700 points and 300 rebounds in a season since at least 85-86.
