It's not signing day yet either. Of course, that said, Iowa is full at DB .... so we'd only take him on at ATH if we were to give him a written offer.Anyone else have no clue he committed to Western Michigan? Looks like his master plan of going to Tennessee and Iowa as his backup failed, though he didn’t have the grades to get into either school. Went from B1G/SEC football to non-power 5 school
and what is wrong with Johnson and 4* Brentz?Bummer we couldn't talk him into going to IWCC and winning a Juco NAT champ and see if he could make the roster in a year. I think this is an underutilized way of getting better players into the fold. FWIW I'm not should he is better than the talent we have but it's an avenue.
they have 3 DB's in this class and that is the number that they have, Roberts is the 3rd. last years class these were the DB'sNothing if you only want 2 players on your team... crazy concept.. The more athletes you have the better your overall team is. Go get a mirror and pick a fight with yourself.
The fact is we "cooled" on him long long ago......it was either lack of skill, lack of character, or grade issue....as the poster said when we are recruiting DB's lets give the coaching staff some credit because they obviously know what they are doing with DB's- there are positions that coaches should get some flack for and some they should not. DB, OL, and TE are off limits for bitching about- if that wasn't a rule it is now.Nothing if you only want 2 players on your team... crazy concept.. The more athletes you have the better your overall team is. Go get a mirror and pick a fight with yourself.
In my opinion you are hugely mistaken in regards to our current roster. To me it not a lack of talent, it is a lack of experience and our youth is showing up in some of these games. This is why we see mixed results on the field from week to week. We lost 3 games all by one score- put up 55 on the most talented defense in big ten and then almost don't put up that many yards in the next game......that is youth. We lose a handful of players on both offense and defense to graduation- Welsh, Wadley, Vandy, Kullick on O and Bazata and the 3 LB's on D. The rest we return- many of which are Fresh and Soph- Including 2 Freshman OT's and a first year QB. On top of that we have one of the toughest schedules in the entire nation and still have opportunity to put up 9 wins this year. Low populations, 2 state schools, etc are all facts and honestly that is why I love being an Iowa fan- because that is who we are and who we will be. I agree that we should get a few JUCO's here and there, however; filling your roster would not be advantageous because there are reasons these players end up JUCO- Lack of character, lack of academic motivation, lack of ability, or all the above. Sure some get it together and would work out great but you also have to remember many of the "elite" players are from other states and did not grow up dreaming of being a HawkeyeO I know we cooled on him, my understanding was it was grades. I'm just a huge believer that we should be using IWCC as a pipeline for these borderline guys. While db may be covered don't you think if this were the level of athlete we had on special teams or as a back up the team would be better overall? We need a serious talent upgrade. We could be using IWCC to get more talent ala dayvion Nixon (sp). Some people look at things and find problems ie. Low population, 2 state schools, b10 qualifications, etc. I look at it and say "we have a Juco national champion in our back yard, let's find a way to use that to our advantage"
Considering this thread is based on a kid who ended up at Western Michigan who we cooled on a long long time ago at a position in which we will have 2 thorpe winners in 3 years.........just seems to me you like you wanted to bitch about not getting a guy we obviously ended up not wanting anyway and then when that was pointed out you then switched gears to bitch about needing more JUCO players......Relying on Juco and using it to.mine some talent are different. We are far from having too much talent from top to bottom in the roster.

Phil Parker from 1992-98 was the DB Coach for the NY Giants of the NFL and got his 1st job as a DB Coach under Saban, I am pretty sure he knows more than you will ever know about FB
so is his bio located on hawkeyesports.Everything you said is wrong except for the part about Parker knowing more about dbs..
Phil never coached in the NFL. He was already a db coach at Toledo before Saban showed up..
Wikipedia is a great resource,
Nitewing coached 27 years in the NFL...don't question him...his alternative facts are awesome.Everything you said is wrong except for the part about Parker knowing more about dbs..
