Its because there are very few rich and middle class now -we are all the little guy. We are all broke peasants

It's not the government's job to "help" anyone directly, but rather to facilitate an environment where people are empowered to help themselves.

"Brooks went on to timidly propose that that the party recognize that modern Republican voters are in a state of 'trauma' and 'want a government that will help the little guy.'"

WTF? Republicans want a government that will help the little guy?

Then WHY THE EFF ARE THEY REPUBLICANS?

Democrats don't help the little guys. Democrats have not met a tax they did not like, and ALL taxes harm the little guy. Democrats are just to stupid to understand this.

They would probably just gravitate to the Democrats. Truly not much of a difference.

You mean the GOPpies who were whipped into a lather over immigration policies, prayer in school, abortion, and any of the other myriad social ills the GOP used are going to suddenly decide they're Dems?

mmhmm...right.

You mean the David Brooks who is a New York Times columnist and University of Chicago graduate? ( who rewards terrorists with professorships ) Buddy of Rahm Emanuel and drinks with David Axelrod? That David Brooks? The Democratic machine has been rolling over these " compassionate conservatives " for years. Eff David Brooks.

Uh-huh...sure...absolutely.

I don't know... I think I'd be ok with a harsh and mean government if they stopped pointing fingers at eachother and got something done once in a while.

Well, the more the statists have "helped" the people, the bigger the income gap has become. At what point do you consider all your "help" to be a failure?
When I hear it from people who aren't clueless about statistics and don't have an obvious bias. If it's true, that shouldn't be even slightly hard to come up with. But strangely non-partisan, well-trained statisticians never seem to make these claims.

A link to the claim that the income gap is widening? Or a link to how we've become more "progressive" over the last century via policies like The New Deal and The Great Society?
I'd welcome a link that shows we are helping people more and that is causing the income gap. You know, like you said.

Well, I didn't know that the widening of the income gap was so far fetched, especially since you guys like to constantly throw it out there when you rail on the corporations.

And are you saying that The New Deal and The Great Society didn't happen? Policies like The "Stimulus" Package and the ACA never happened? Anti-monopoly policies to protect the little man? That didn't happen?

So you did just make it up? That's what I thought.

Of course he did.

To be fair, he probably heard some idiot on Fox say it. Or some idiot here.

And now he's just flailing around throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks or if he can wear you out.

I can't stand FOX. If I must watch network news, it's always CNN.

But I didn't get this from anyone. It isn't a hard concept, but you guys still can't answer any of my questions. All you have are insults and classic misdirection.

They're never going to admit the obvious. Arguing with them is literally like trying to punch the wind.

But I have a blast watching them squirm, asking for links to things like "The New Deal." The pathetic attempts at deflection and misdirection. It just brightens my whole day, because I know that they know that they're full of s***, and that just makes me smile. :D

Well being liberals we should channel our inner Muhammad Ali. Might as well get some mileage out of my often reported love of Islam.

Can't you answer that? Use your google. Try to back up a point. Connect the dots. You need the practice.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

You really don't want to answer because you know if you tell the truth then you're dead in the water with this argument. That's why you and WWJD pretty much disappeared from this thread, only returning briefly to deflect.

You're stuck in a catch--22, brutha. I love it!

I will say that the growth of the wealth gap and the simultaneous increase in "progressive" policies could be a case of correlation and not causation, but I would tend to believe that the ever-expanding monster of a federal government we have today certainly creates ever-greater opportunities for rich people to engage in rent seeking activities.

So liberals say all the time the gap is widening but when somebody elae says it it's fantasy? This country has ecome liberal and progressively more progressive over the last decade and they also say the gap is widening, so what is everyone supposed to deduce from it all?
