'The Journey' should stay away from anything even slightly controversial. Given that the show is intended to promote the Big Ten, no one can expect a balanced presentation of the Brad Davison experience.

According to the show, the worst he has done is a hook and hold. Oh, he might be perceived as over-aggressive. Where was the tripping, the nut shots, the flopping? Who else has the Big Ten suspended for dirty play?

This thought that he is a guy whom every opponent hates but would love to have on their team is pure horseshite. I can't recall a guy like him at Iowa, and wouldn't want one. He is the Gregg Marmalard of college hoops.

Iowa has had some thug players. Some had skills, but they played very dirty.

I especially appreciate the ones that weren't all that good at the D1 level playing on average to bad Iowa teams.

It's such good sh**......
One of these players is revered by fans, but he was very dirty. I was at games where I saw him punch opposing players in the kidneys when he could hide it, and he was the first player I saw hook and hold/drag down an opponent when he fell. And that's just what I saw from my crappy seats. But he could shoot!

😉

The Brands Brothers documentary left out a highly controversial segment of their life as well.

I pray for Iowa to add and enforcer on their team. We haven't had one since Ed Horton. Someone who dishes out the physicality for a purpose...and scares the shit out of the other team. Ed Horton played with a mean streak...and battled you...for everything. Reggie Evans would be another one. Just tougher than nails getting position...and it didn't matter if guys were hanging all over them...the rebound was theirs...and if you want the ball, you were going to have to take a beating to get it.

I'm sorry, but I think Iowa teams, especially in Fran's tenure, have been soft and not physical enough on the glass.

When the refs are allowing teams to play through contact, Iowa teams haven't held up. Just my opinion.

Not exactly. He never grabbed or punched anyone's balls or purposely tripped them that I saw. Davison has done everything that Kingsbury ever did and a heck of a lot more.

Kingsbury would pull guys on top of him and somehow get the foul called on the other guy. And yes, Davison is a major league douche nozzle.

No No No—-Kingsbury was a prick but not in Davison’s league as a dirty player!

Every non Iowa wrestling fan said the same crap about Iowa wrestling for decades. Many of our favorite wrestlers pushed and crossed the line many times. Let’s not get too sanctimonious about a few omissions in the Davison documentary.

As I stated above they left out a very controversial part of the Brands Brothers history.

I take it you don't remember Zach McCabe, who once threw a player over his shoulder. Connor McCaffrey plays hard, too.

I can personally attest that Greg Marmalard is a fine, upstanding citizen.

You lost me at Connor McCaffrey. McCabe was physical and didn't take any shit...but he wasn't in the category of Horton or Evans. Those guys moved you out of the way down low...and you didn't shove them around.
