Actually, they probably would answer that Iowa has been a top program, particularly in the early/mid-80's. There also would have been a much different result if they'd asked "has Nebraska ever been a top program?" Clearly nebraska has, and everyone would acknowledge that.We shall be back.
Think about the irony of your post. Better question to ask than:
Has Iowa ever been a top college football program?
Despite how you would probably answer that, the rest of nation would laugh.
You've had a great season, no doubt.....but get ready to face the best team you've seen this year.
Northwestern? Demolished them. Purdue? Demolished them. Wisconsin? Won. Illinois? Won. Nebraska may be in the top 8 teams we played, but have certainly proven to not be in the top 5 or 6.You've had a great season, no doubt.....but get ready to face the best team you've seen this year.
Agreed. But I also thing most everyone outside of Nebraska would agree they quickly became "not a top program" shortly after joining the Big 12 and had to play by the same academic rules as the Rest of the Power 5 conferences. Half of their starters on offense when they won their last title weren't eligible in other conferences. There also would have been a much different result if they'd asked "has Nebraska ever been a top program?" You conveniently leave out that our decline began when one of the top coaches in college football retired from our program. Must have been the academic thing right?Agreed. The only fans saying Riley needs to go after 9 games are retard fans. Reasonable fans understand the situation.I think the game will be close and Neb does have a chance to win. But it is funny how before MSU, TA is horrible and the coaching staff needs to go, etc. One blown call on a game winning TD and they will be the best team Iowa has faced all year. 2016 National Title talk start up yet?
Good point, these results would be different had the poll been on the AARP website. The kids playing for them now were kindergarten/first grade the last time UN won even a conference championship.
Its been noted that Tom O was the only coach in the Big 8 opposed to joining the Big 12 due to the academic standards required by Texas. Did Tom O hang it it because he was tired of coaching or because he saw the writing on the wall and his bread and butter recruits were no longer going to be allowed? You conveniently leave out that our decline began when one of the top coaches in college football retired from our program. Northwestern? You are wrong, they haven't been demolished by anyone. They will be the best team we have faced to date, and it's not close. Toss up game.Northwestern? Demolished them. Purdue? 1958 ... yes, Iowa > LSU
1970, 1971, 1994, 1995 ... Michigan > UNL in 1997
We shall be back.

Iowa beat Northwestern 40-10. I would be curious to know your definition of demolished.Northwestern? You are wrong, they haven't been demolished by anyone. They will be the best team we have faced to date, and it's not close. Toss up game.
LOL, Nebraska isn't even in the top half of teams we'll face this year.
I'm sorry. Did you say something about being a top college football program? I couldn't hear you over how 11-0 we are.
Well, that'll make a loss this week even harder to explain then, won't it? If you're right, then when your perfect season goes down on Friday, the only remaining explanation will be that the Hawkeyes are indeed the fraud the nation says they are......aided and abetted by a joke of a schedule this year.....what, 65th in the nation in SOS?

Iowa Fans.......We are two wins from the playoffs. You are one loss from spending the holidays watching teams play in bowl games. The best team will win Friday and I believe it will be the Hawkeyes. Who will you talk smack to then?
Lol.....on a SOS of 65th, nationally. Bravo!
When an 11-0 Iowa team is favored by 1 point to a 5-6 NU team.....that pretty much sums up the order of things in college football. After your euphoria comes crashing down on Friday.....and we move forward next year with the implementation of our new systems, coaches, recruits, etc.....we'll go back to beating you annually without much thought.
KF is 1-5 against NU.....so you got that going for you.

A 5-6 Nebraska pulls down our strength of schedule. Thanks for that. Oh well win or lose we still have at least 2 games after that.Lol.....on a SOS of 65th, nationally. Bravo!

And has been pointed out several times, academics at Nebraska aren't up to par with other B1G schools, the AAU agrees.Haha.....these are the statements that make people like you look stupid.
Nebraska leads the nation in CoSIDA Academic All-Americans with 107 football honorees, and a nation-leading 315 across all sports.
But, yeah.....keep the myth alive that TO was worried about academics in relationship to having to play 3 Texas schools that have piles of homegrown talent to choose from any year.
And has been pointed out several times, academics at Nebraska aren't up to par with other B1G schools, the AAU agrees.
TO was worried he wouldn't be able to recruit the same deadbeats who weren't eligible at other conferences any longer.
We shall be back.
.
