Depth Chart for Maryland: Cade is QB1 & Jackson Stratton QB2

I don't want to know who QB3 is.

I would rather have STratton be number 1 after 2 weeks of practice as he steps into his throws and he was on target in the rose bowl, the rose bowl leading the hawks to a game tying TD, not sure if Cade can do that unless Cade is determined to step into his throws

Lester said he liked what he saw from Stratton, too.

It will be interesting to hear when Cade started practicing again.

The HawkCentral article by ChadL says Maryland's pass defense is ranked #127 out of 131 so the hawks need to get the pass game going to open up the running game. I thought the hawks tried running it up the gut too much against a ucla team crowding the box and that led to a lot of 2nd and 3rd and long situations.

I would rather on play action we dont send Kaleb or other running backs into the line but just fake the zone handoff if in shotgun and immediately let the running back go out wide as a pass receiver. And if running backs are then open just throw it to them in space and let them run. When the terps adjust by bringing up defenders to cover the running backs out wide then that opens up space for downfield receivers.

Spread the defense and Kaleb runs wild

hopefully Cade's accuracy improves

I got caught up with this part of Chad's article:

There is a path for Iowa to finish 8-4, in which case it's almost certainly a trip back to Tampa for the Dec. 31 Reliaquest Bowl against a Southeastern Conference team to be determined. A 9-4 season, with McNamara finishing the deal, is not out of the question.

CFN's projection right now puts Iowa vs. Tennessee. Not a good matchup. In fact, I don't think any of these teams: Georgia, Bama, Texas, TX A&M, Ole Miss, Tennessee, SC are good matchups for Iowa at all. It stands to reason that the opponent would be one of those seven.

Half of Tennessee's team would probably sit again.

We want Bama just for the Proctor factor.

If it's Tennesse, I'd rather we go to a lesser bowl. Lol
That would be just as ugly as last year, maybe worse.

Iowa Hawkeye fan = we can never have nice things.

I don't really care what sport we talk about, the above applies to all.

oh great ugh GIF by truTV’s I’m Sorry

I bet anyone here that sully is healthy enough to play.

This gives kirk a out to play cade the rest of the year
get out, the team doctors are not going to lie, yeah u are probably exaggerating or trolling or whatever but no, he is hurt. Most of us have had some bad sprains to know it takes a week or more just for the swelling to go down but the tissue is still damages, the muscles, tendons, and ligaments stretched so very weak.

so it was sprained so badly that he went back in the game for another series or 2 after doing it & had no noticeable limp post game?

I was sitting behind the Iowa bench at the Rose Bowl. Sully was limping around and, obviously, was injured.

Most people know that while an athlete is warmed up, it's possible to play through an injury, even if it turns out to be a pretty serious injury later. But once you sit and the body cools off, then reality sets in. That happened to me in high school football. I injured my knee but kept playing. After the game the knee swelled, and I missed the last five weeks of the season.

Iowa, at every position, was manhandled at the Rose Bowl. It was men against boys that night. Everyone was getting crunched. Sully paid the price. Anybody who thinks otherwise is simply wrong, if you don't mind my saying so.

BTW: Stratton is the best QB available for Iowa, so KF goes with Cade, the guy who can't run or throw, over the kid who did a heckuva job at the Rose Bowl. Stratton led Iowa to a game-tying TD after spending the regular season playing LB on the scout team. The kid can throw, and the two third-down completions he made were two of the best passes an Iowa QB has thrown in the last five years. And he is capable of moving around in the pocket and of running when necessary, none of which Cade can do. And Stratton has eligibility left. Cade does not.

There is zero reason to start Cade. But that's KF for ya. He still doesn't know a QB from a lamp post.
