A friend of ours recommended John and Nicks in Clive for a steak place. I’ve never been. Reviews? I’ve been to most of the steak places in Des Moines but not this one. We will be in town weekend after this.

Fantastic salad bar which is an underrated quality. Steaks are good, nothing out of this world but definitely one of the better/more affordable options around.
I prefer the prime rib myself. Seafood is also quite good by Iowa standards.

This would be the one I’d recommend but navigating the logistics of arriving before it gets super busy makes it a bit of a commitment. Don’t normally like eating dinner at 5.

I am assuming that Jesse's Embers on Ingersol is still in business. Several years ago, when I was an avid meat-eater, one night I had the best steak (T-bone) I ever had in my life there. Thinking back on my life, "eating out" has never been that big of a deal for me but I will always remember the steak I ate that night at Jesse's.
My disclaimer is that I haven't eaten at Jesse's for 4-5 years now......but occasionally I hear good things about it still.
