Reported by CP on FRL 280. Hopefully the staff can seal the deal.
I think this is the news we were all hoping for. Hard for a kid to commit to any college without taking a look at the campus first. What better opportunity to do that than this weekend!
considering what everyone is saying his choices are narrowed down to. I feel he would be making a HUGE mistake not to come Wrestle for the HAWKS!!!!
He’s going to Iowa Central.
No way he could beat Badillo or Clarke out. He wouldn't be stupid enough to go to Iowa Central as he'd never see the mat.
Damn good Hamburgers and Fries. Southwest Harbor, Maine.
Cael after him HARD for 41. Question is does he just want to make sure he doesn’t wrestle for any other big ten school?
Cael has about 88 other top notch recruits that easily could fill 141, he is just trying to keep Austin from IC.
I'm sure Cael is after him hard. I don't care for the guy, but he is damn good recruiter. He is as relentless in recruiting as Brands was on the mat. I respect it.
There is nothing about PSU recruiting that makes any sense to me at all.
PSU has plenty of scholarship $ available for him- they are fortunate enough to have all their current wrestlers who have families that can afford full tuition at a private institution even if it is out of state tuition. The one's who can't afford it are in ROTC or got a perfect score on the ACT/SAT.....what a class act program, community, athletic department, and school they have at PSU. Character counts ladies and gentlemen
This doesn't make sense. PSU is a state institution, not a private institution.. Private institutions don't have different rates for out of state students.
While not a PSU fan, if I am going to slam them, I would leave out inaccurate, non-factual information so that maybe the rest of the post still has some credence.
Is he going to go after Gary Wayne Harding too. SIAP he was granted a release from OkSt. It’s going to be hard for Carl to keep all these guys from being interested in Iowa
PSU is not a public institution nor is entirely "private" they do not have to share records like public institution do and PSU does in fact have different in state and out of state tuition. Google it buddy
Furthermore, was being completely factitious anyway so it is what it is.
How in the world is Desanto a 141? Watched several matches at NCAA and he looked like an undersized 133, especially against Micic.
Nick Lee is not a 149lber either. This is a total cock block.
It appears to be "get as many good wrestlers as possible." And it appears to be working.
I keep hoping the strategy will eventually backfire...unfortunately I’m still waiting for that to happen.
jfc I guess so.
the first line on google
Penn State-A Public Research University Serving Pennsylvania and ...

and, find me a private institution that has out of state tuition, buddy.
Fwiw, there are very few 100% private colleges who don’t accept any government $$. I only know of one off the top of my head without using the google.
Penn State sucks. Is that better?
Jimmy Gulibon had the same question.
Dude it's a public university.
technically, it is not.
Penn State falls into the "State-Related" category of univeristy.
The Commonwealth System of Higher Education is a statutory designation by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania that confers "state-related" status on four universities located within the state. The designation establishes the schools as an "instrumentality of the commonwealth" and provides each university with annual, non-preferred financial appropriations in exchange offering tuition discounts to students who are residents of Pennsylvania and a minority state-representation on each school's board of trustees. Legally, however, the universities remain separate and private entities, operating under their own charters, governed by independent boards of trustees, and with its assets under their own ownership and control, thereby retaining much of the freedom and individuality of private institutions, both administratively and academically. It is the only public-private hybrid system of higher education in the United States that is so construed, although Cornell University, the University of Delaware, and Rutgers University represent alternative types of public-private university hybrids."
I don't allocate the scholly $$$ and I trust the coaches...but if it takes a full ride to get him here... I'm in. Everyone can figure out next year... next year.
Technically in legal terms, it's not a public or a private. Step out of the weeds and blink a few times and it's pretty clear that it's much much closer to the public end of the spectrum than the private.
just pointing out that you're wrong when you claim it is a public institution. i'd also like to point out that when you realized you were wrong, you backpedaled and came up with this crap.
PSU can't decide if they want to be public or private, like they can't decide who they want at 125/133.
I'm not the least fricking bit interested when it comes to PSU.
Goodnight. I'm with you. It's a thread about AD coming to the World Cup and the whole damn thread is a petty argument over another institution. Can we just start a PSU thread and if you feel the need to say anything about them, good or bad, go there instead of pissing all over every single thread here. I'm not talking about the trolls. They are on ignore. I'm talking about many of you that I enjoy reading content from until it becomes a PSU circle jerk.
It just feels like this is going to happen. Desanto as an Iowa Hawkeye next year would be incredible. Who could say no to the Brands in Iowa city this weekend with the World Cup going on?
Austin’s visit is just another reason to pack Carver. A full house would be mighty impressive.
who cares?about piss st
Stupid semantic argument. It is recognized for all intents and purposes as a public university and judged against its peers as such. I hope DeSanto stays back east but I think he would thrive under the Brands.
