Desmond King

NFL is a tough bizness

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports the Steelers will release CB Desmond King if they can’t find a trade partner.
King has spent time with the Chargers, Titans, and Texans throughout his career, predominantly as a nickel corner. He hardly made an impact for the Steelers this season and now the veteran is available. Per Pelissero, The Steelers are expected to sign rookie CB Darius Rush off the Chiefs’ practice squad in a corresponding move.

He would look great in a Bear uni, but Poles is clueless…(I. e the same GM who who thought locker room cancer Claypool was a great get from the Steelers last year)😎

Steelers released CB Desmond King.
King was expected to be released if the Steelers could not find a trade partner for him. Given that they handed over all of their leverage by letting it known he would be released, it’s no surprise that the Steelers couldn’t find a bidder for King. Signed by Pittsburgh in the offseason, King played one defensive snap and 15 special teams snaps for the team before being cut.

Well there's no way in hell anyone is going to trade for him if they know they are going to release him soon.

Texans signed CB Desmond King II to the active roster.
King was signed to the practice squad earlier this month and will now be elevated to the active roster. The veteran spent the last two seasons with Houston before signing with Pittsburgh in the offseason and subsequently being released in October. King has struggled as a boundary corner in the past, but the Texans could look to move him back inside to slot corner, where he has succeeded in the past. The team released Shaquill Griffin to make room on the roster.

Six years is longer than most and he's still playing!
Yep, average NFL career is 3.3 years. If you play more than 5 you can say you had a "career". You also get the all-important second contract. Desmond's last contract included a guaranteed $3.5M with a $1M signing bonus.

Just noticed Desmond King signed a one-year contract extension with Houston, good for him. He will always be a favorite Hawkeye of mine.
