There are only three or four hotels within a mile that have availability, and they’re all $500/night. It’s take what you can get time.

I would also like to visit Detroit a lot. I hope I can do it soon. I know it is a very big and beautiful city, so I am sure it is worth visiting. But I wouldn't say I like long journeys. I still prefer rapidity. When I realize that the flight from Adelaide to Detroit is so long, that keeps me from getting there. Like you, I prefer to go to hotels not far from where I live so as not to walk or drive too far. Plus it is much more comfortable with children and is fast. We have a lot of nearby hotels that are very good. But I hope I will visit Detroit, so if you have good hotel recommendations there, let me know
