Some have stated this has happened but if so it seems we would have gotten some confirmation. If not it seems kind of crazy that he would not have done so by now. Maybe they are not even on campus right now. Does anyone know? If everyone knows Fred is leaving it seems like Dewey Oxenburger or w/e his name is would be getting in touch with all cyclone recruits and players right now! Any intelligence as to whether this has taken place? Seems eerily quiet out there. It almost makes me wonder if Pollard has not picked the successor at this time.

Meh....I don't care two hoots about anything Iowa State. Besides....I'm still not convinced Hoiberg is leaving. I fully expect him to have a press conference in a day or so saying he is staying at ISU, that he loves them, etc. And ISU fans will be ready to build him a statue and name all their kids Fred or Freda.

Players are not on campus now. I believe I heard most are expected back later this week for summer workouts.

Players have been told not to talk about the coaching situation. They've been informed and are aware what is going on.

While it is likely a done deal with Chicago, Fred still has to be medically cleared by Chicago and he's still recovering from his heart surgery.

LoL! Yeah, the players are aware of exactly what is going on.

Subsequent reports indicate he did, in fact keep the players in the loop. The ones quoted in the papers seem happy for him but there has been talk of a lot of unhappiness regarding his departure as would be expected.

So,some players are happy and some are unhappy. Thanks for the update.

I haven't heard anybody expressing disappointment. I think it doesn't really need to be said; the players like Fred and liked playing for him. They're happy for him, but I'm sure they'd rather have him for their senior year.

I haven't seen any indications that anybody is angry with him. Niang said Fred told them at their meeting before they left Ames that there was a chance he'd be coaching them next year and a chance he wouldn't. He talked with all of them before it was formally announced.

Several mentioned that it had been a major positive to have T.J. back -- which, again, makes sense, since he was the guy who recruited most of the upperclassmen.

I think the one thing we can pretty much know for certain is that somebody told them all to STFU about the situation on social media.

He didn't want to meet them face to face because he was afraid he would get a contact high before he took his Bulls physical.

Could you translate what he said for me, please?
TIA (thanks in advance; not transient ischemic attack).

Hoiberg didn't want to meet with his players face to face for fear of a contact high and then failing a drug test in pursuit of his job as Bulls Coach.

Or, if I might add, he could have just been tired of having chairs tossed at him.

Not sure what's so funny about that.

It is true. Fred let them know after the season there was interest from NBA teams and he was going to evaluate the offers. Fred treated them with respect by letting them know where he was coming from and in return asked that the team respect the situation and keep it in house, which they did.

wow... hilarious.

It's safe to say Fred's exit/departure was a tad bit more professional and graceful than Steve Alford's departure(s) from Iowa and New Mexico

talking MBB here. we don't pretend we're some elite Fb program, even though beating Iowa in Fb has become uneventful anymore

So according to the Directors Cup Iowa was better than isu in MBB this year. Of course that must be ignored though because Pollad loves to screams about how unfair it was that isu had to play mighty UAB. But do tell us how it really is.
