Did Juju just tear her ACL?

How long are most players out with an acl injury? 6-8 months?
6 months with no basketball as a most likely minimum if it is a torn ACL that needs surgery. Then you’ve got 3 months of rehab just to be able to be athletic, then usually another 3 months to get ready to play. From there, especially for someone that relied upon athleticism, it could take another year to gain the right amount of confidence in her knee to be able to attempt the things she has been doing.

If that’s the case no way she plays next season. There’s a chance it isn’t that bad and is just a strain which likely means her season is over but she’ll be ready for next year. There’s a chance that she did more damage than just an ACL though too, which could stretch that timeline out a bit more depending upon how bad it is.

Having said all of that, some people are physical freaks and come back quicker from these injuries.

She's fortunate to have world class rehab available to her. With her NIL deals, she can afford to rehab anywhere.

Never know. Sam LaPorta had a really serious looking knee play (was that last year? I don't recall). Think he was playing in limited action a week later. Looked like he was done for a year.

I’ve liked her since the time she scored 51 in a game as a freshman and some BS reporter tried to bait her into saying she was better than Caitlin, and JuJu said something like No, I’m not going there. Punk ass reporter.

She can redshirt but she may not take it since she only has to be in college for 4 years before going pro. Although she would probably make more at USC.

Well, this will put a fork in any talk about challenging CC's scoring record, or any other records. It is now unlikely JuJu will even play four years. Following her third year, she'll jump to the W. These ACL tears really suck. She has the current NCAA tournament taken away, and then will miss the entire next season as well. Ugh.

The WNBA will have a new TV contract and CBA by then so the earning potential for leaving early should be much higher than it is now.

I can tell you from experience having tore ACL’s in my left and right knees as well as the medial meniscus in those knees. It’s just no picnic. Ruined my college baseball career. The biggest obstacle is your confidence that everything is fine and get after it; however, the tendency is to baby that recovered knee and then pop, you blow the other one which is precisely what happened to me. I wish nothing but the best for her. She’s a tremendous talent and a good person.

I did not watch the game but saw the replay when she was injured. Sort of a typical foul you might see on a 1 on 2 fast break. Terrible injury indeed, but then what happened during the game after that for those who watched? The player that bumped Juju was then booed throughout the game? Did she say or do something that stood out after the foul?? Seems over the top by the fans to react that way even if the player is as good as she is. And a handshake line issue as well?!

I mean, the foul that caused the injury was kind of intentional. Bumping and nudging another player running full speed to make her lose balance was deliberate, even though the intent was not to cause a torn knee. But it is dangerous.

Didn't look dirty to me. It was a bang bang play on a fast break. They could have had that same sequence 1,000 times with no injury.

The defender met her at the elbow and the player ended up on the block. Running a straight line with a little lean..... about like 40-50 plays a game where a defender holds their ground and slightly bodies up. Terrible outcome on the injury but a common play. ( I feel.)

The crazy thing is I saw today that her coach Gotllieb was under fire from the fan base and media after their first round game against a WAY overmatched opponent. Juju, injured a finger early on, and when in and they taped two fingers together so she could go back in. The later in the game she rolled her ankle, and left the game for a bit. Then to start the 4thQ coach put her back in to start the 4th. Now mind you they held the other team to 13 at the half and like 25 points for the whole game. So WHY was she putting a less then 100% Juju back in a game they won by almost 50points? I realize that probably had nothing to do with her injury yesterday, but Gotllieb has had a habit of leaving Juju out there during blowouts, so she was taking some shit this weekend. Edit: it was UNC Greensboro they beat 71-25 final score....
