I have never understood why there should ever be "moderators" on a forum like this. It's so simple. If you're too sensitive, there's the ignore feature. Or... just walk away from the site for a while. The ignore feature is really all you need. I never use it, but, I'm not keen on censoring people. I understand why some people do it. The only moderation that could be needed is when these losers get banned and continue to create new handles and come back again. But, even that isn't necessary because they don't need to get kicked-off just for being stupid and persistent. Just... ignore... them! You don't have to "put them on ignore" to do that, either. You just ignore them.

There are at least a half-dozen posters that, when I see their handle, I scroll right past them. They never offer anything challenging or new. It's always exactly the same. They're like those cardboard cut-out fans at MLB games this year. But, I don't need them to be removed in order to enjoy the rest.
I don’t use ignore either and read almost everything.

There is absolutely no subject ever on any message board worthy of getting banned over. Life is difficult enough nowadays without having a place like this adding layers of stress onto one's life.

It's just not worth it. Ever.

And if someone thinks this place is bad, head over to the main boards some time. Never seen so much drama over moderation anywhere else on the internets. People habitually cross lines we all know are there, then act all pissy about why posts are deleted, bannings, etc.

As mentioned, I too don't own the place. Therefore, I don't make the rules. I accept that they can make up whatever rules they deem necessary - so I therefore choose to abide by them. Sure, I cuss now and then, but I sure's heck don't throw f bombs around, mf'ers, pics that are effectively nudity...and definitely don't get into countless, endless, useless pissy arguments over stuff I cannot control. About the worst I do is rarely post the "f this, f that" cat gif...and that's it.

I think of it as like visiting someone else's house. If I know damn well that if I cuss like a sailor or spit on their carpet, they'll throw me out - I therefore won't do that.

This place, it ain't a democracy. It's THEIR rules. It's that simple for me.

When appropriate, yep.
No, no, no.

The moderators on this site do an excellent job. Some of us came from Warchant; we know over moderation better than anyone on the internet. Believe me when I tell you that HROT’s approach to moderation is far and away better.

It makes sense. I’m not demanding anything. I don’t own the site so I don’t make the rules. Insofar as rules for appropriate debate they are nonexistent and the quality of the arguments reflect it. Just my observation.
Lol at the self-anointed judge of quality.

Noted. Some, ahh, less astute ones came over in the modern day Trail of Tears, along with a cohort from the more seasoned side.
The refugees suffered greatly in the dying throes of a once thriving center of discourse and revelry.
To arrive in this community of, ahh, less inhibited ones was a mixed blessing... for which we are for the most part grateful. ahh hell, Go Noles!!
So, you're saying that I was an overbearing moderator?

Well tell me. I've never had a problem with black people. Why are they even getting upset? They should worry more about the Mexicans taking their liberties.
Why don’t you talk Mano a Mano with 100 random black people. Ask them why they are upset.
Be sure to talk about your best friend and the equal pay gig...

I have no clue what one could do to earn it. Based on what I’ve seen here any action would seem capricious.
Nothing. Why, you could post hard core pornography if you wanted to and not get banned.

Wanna see over-moderation? Go over to the Nebraska board. Although I think most of this board is probably banned there after that visit 8-9 years ago. Good times lol.

No way. I genuinely don’t believe moderators take any corrective action here. Worst moderated forum I’ve used.
I got black listed for mocking an Iowa State basketball coach to an Iowa fan. Not a time out, permaban. The mods here are strange on what they allow and don’t allow.

You can tell another person to go kill their self or you wish death on their entire family, just don’t say ass when speaking about ISU. It really depends on who you are.

Perhaps the standards are different in the other forums, I only use this one. If they are it’s another example of terrible forum moderation and management.

It's baffling. I guess being TK's pal pays off. Posting that is more likely to get deleted than telling anonymous people that you hope they die. Weird.
And their families raped, etc.

I couldn't care less, but the way the moderators "moderate" is pretty curious sometimes.
