Disappointed CC Sabathia is going into the baseball HOF

He was a decent pitcher that benefitted by playing for a couple of pretty good teams that scored a ton of runs in support. Career ERA of 3.74. 1 Cy Young. 6 all stars in 19 seasons. I guess the writers liked him though. I'd put him in the "Hall of Pretty Good Pitchers"
1st ballot too. As a Brewers fan, his 17 starts for them was the best 17 game stretch by a pitcher in franchise history. Made the postseason bc of him for the 1st time in 26 years. Not saying that should get him into the HOF, but I'll always love the guy.

Being a lifelong Yankee fan I am thrilled he made it, but yeah I kind of agree with you.

His high school coach was my no-pic wife’s cousin. He always speaks well of him.

Sabathia is closely comparable to a dozen or so pitchers who aren’t in the HOF. He’s a fringe guy by most indications. And fringe guys get inducted sometimes. It’s usually not by the writers though. And certainly not on the first ballot!
