I expected a better effort today. Not sure what the problem is. The Hawks needed this game badly. We are looking at a probable 6 game losing streak....yet another February swoon.

I dunno....with all the young talent the future should be bright, but I am continually frustrated with our guys being unable to consistently pull out close games. This has been a problem throughout Fran's tenure at Iowa.

It's frustrating!

If you are defining "effort" as figuring out a way to get a much needed win at home and make plays at the end to get it done - I agree.

If you mean "effort" as in not trying hard, I do not agree.

I am not going to argue with anyone, but I for one did not think this team would win 14 games this year. Fun team to watch when they are hitting, not so much when they don` `t. Thanks.....

Doesn't it look like jok is pulling a ronnie harmon at times?
The thought of him throwing the game never once crossed my mind, but I couldn't believe the turnovers. Very sloppy. My thought was....maybe his back is still bothering him.

I wonder about that as well. Not that Pete has ever been a great ballhandler, but he seems to be very stiff, with very little bend in his torso now. Maybe just over analysing. Ever team looks great when the ball is dropping, hawks not so much again Saturday.

I thought Illinois was the hungrier team, our effort was not very good, guys jogging down court, not going after rebounds. We looked like a tired team, after a week off, the 80 Hawks had to be embarrassed by our effort..... I totally agree with the post.

I think for whatever reason, he dribbles the ball too high and gets it poked away too often. Maybe the back causing it, but Cook tends to do it too.

Jok w/ 5 Turnovers and looking like he's throwing the game is what's frustrating to me.

This.

Dude drives me nuts, plain and simple. He bogs down the offense with his mindless dribbling and trying to create off the dribble. I stopped watching yesterday after he had it stolen at the top of the key for an easy layup and dribbled it off his own leg out of bounds. He is a jag on defense. That said, I could not be more excited for next season. I just hope we can sneak into the NIT this season to get these guys a few more games against solid programs.

If you get into Pete and force him to dribble, he is a below average ball handler. He has improved, but that is not his strength.

Our bigs shot free throws pretty well, but two of our best shooters missed some crucial freebies down the stretch. That is not a recipe for winning close games.
