Seems like Iowa has a decent shot at both of these guards, and I would guess it is first come first served, but definitely not both. For those who know more, preferences?

Not discounting Jaden Schutt just yet, might be a long shot but it’s still early and none of them have committed

I was just thinking about this yesterday, on which I prefer. I’d have to watch the full games to see about their defense but man they are both great on the offensive end. I think Dix is a better 3 point shooter and Craft is a better athlete but they each can do both at a high level. Right now I’d go with Craft because I feel like he can create shots better and he is a pure high-level scorer. I’d have to watch more of them, and probably full games to be sure though.

I'd take Craft, from what I see he has a much quicker release on his shot. But is slow footed on defense. Dix has better handles, but that's about it.

Nickel , Bowen, Filipowski and Shaw. That’s my absolute best combination and what I’d want most but there are some other really good combinations as well we have a good chance with

I believe that Tyler Nickel is the staff’s first choice for that combo 2-3 spot. I seem to recall reading that IA is in his top 4 and the staff thinks they have a viable chance.

At least that’s my sense.
Didn’t someone on this board claim at one point to have inside info that put Iowa in a really favorable spot with Nickel, and was guessing he’d be a hawk?

Yes, about 6 months or so ago a poster claimed to be an acquaintance of the Nickel family. He said that he had heard that if Tyler were to decide at that time, he would choose the Hawks. He indicated Tyler was pretty pumped about the Hawks and was his #1 choice.

Something to that effect anyway. I don’t recall reading anything else from that poster on the topic.

Somebody posted that. He got a bunch of nice offers shortly after, so things may have changed

I appreciate the info. It is still early and we have the PG commitment, which is probably even more important. It sounds like most of you believe that Fran might not accept a commitment from either guy just yet, although they both look like pretty good players, at least offensively. From tapes I have watched, I agree with the sentiment that adding Filopowski and any of several would make this an outstanding class.

I think Iowa is actively recruiting these kids and will accept a commitment pretty much anytime as long as their position isn't full already. If a kid is a multi-position kind of player or good enough to recruit regardless of position (like OB), there is more flexibility.

I do think that the staff is slow playing Dix and Craft until Nickel decides in the fall. Evidenced by bringing them in for their unofficials for now with their officials in the fall (I think that’s the case but haven’t taken the time to validate).

I’d take Nickel, Craft, and Dix in that order but any of them would be outstanding.

I certainly agree with getting Filopowski would be absolutely, positively huge.

For the recruits waiting until fall to commit, it makes sense bringing them in for an official on a football weekend. It gives them a better taste for the excitement associated with Hawkeye sports; moreso than watching a BBall practice. This year should be awesome with fans chomping at the bit to get back in Kinnick Stadium.
