the more you expand the playoffs the more you devalue the regular season. CFB has the best regular season of all the sports because every game actually matters.

That being said I'd be fine with 4 conferences 8 divisions with the eight division champions being the 8 playoff teams. That doesn't devalue the regular season and simply turns the conference championship games into round 1 of the playoffs.

Six teams is perfect. Power five conferences each get champ in plus one wildcard.

Top two teams get bye and home game.

I'd settle for another strong season next year, and let the chips fall where they may. Would be great to show up to play, and give an accurate account of our team, in a great postseason game next year, playoff or not, win or lose.

4 team playoffs are already proving to be a flop. I think things should go back to the way they were.

As a fan - of course more playoff games would be awesome. Most of the spots would have to go to conference champs (including non-power 5). With all the wildcards it really dulls the season.

But I really do think 4 is perfect for identifying the champion. Less deserving teams have made it, but No deserved team has ever been left out

I think at some point it will go to 8 because it will make more money for everyone involved. I think 4 is perfect for finding the actual champion. It makes every game of the season important and somewhat weeds out the pretenders.

It will for sure go to 8 and possibly 16.

Bowls are dying and TV rules the roost and the TV for those games will be great than the bowl chairs.

It wont devalue the regular season because you will be working for your seed/ home field. If anything it will make it better because you will have more teams with scenarios of getting in,.

I didn't think about home field.... That would be a huge wrinkle. Cannot imagine a game at Kinnick in late December or January.

But I still think yes it devalues the regular season. Getting left out vs having to play a road game is a HUGE difference in importance

The problem is with the bowls though... if you keep expanding the playoffs, the attendance at lower ranking bowls might be worse than it was this year.

You need to reward a regular season, but does it have to be "perfect" like many think? As we saw this year, a team like Stanford could kick some ass. Guess what, the 2009 Hawk team could kick some ass too. Nobody would've wanted to play that team, just like nobody wants to play Stanford again this year.

I'd have no problem with expanding it to 8 though. Why not?
