Do we take 2 PG’s in 2022?

If Bowen were to commit, do we take Issacs also if he wants to commit? I think they are too talented to say no to either one of them. I think they could both play either on ball or off ball. They could also be on the floor together. When one was resting, you would always have a quality point guard running the show. Throw in Filipowski and you have a dream class.

Sure. But why would the second one (whoever is 2nd) commit to Iowa? There would already be 3 guys at the position.

If both were to commit, Iowa would have two 6’2’’ PG’s and one 6’3’’ PG. CJ was 6’3’’. They have enough size to play off guard.

I think if you have enough self confidence that you aren’t afraid of competition. In today’s position less basketball that it is less of a factor. Look at Illinois and Oregon last year. You can’t have enough good guards.

I would love to see those 2 playing together at Iowa. Iowa's offense would work fine, and they would give opponents fits on defense, too.

Fine, I'm all for it. But these kids have a lot of choices, and I doubt either one is desperate to go to Iowa.

Desperate, probably not. But any good PG with a set of eyes should see incredible opportunity at a place like Iowa given Fran’s proven, successful offensive system with a high number of possessions and a desire to push the ball. Here’s to hoping that Garza’s prominence on the national stage last year opened some of those eyes

Ok. I will keep my fingers crossed, but I'm not going to hold my breath! ;)

Except some of their guards were 6'6" . Positonless basketball is one thing, but you can't go out there with five 6'2" guys either.....

Easy yes. IMO, you always want at least 3 guys who can play PG, preferably 1 or 2 that can swing to the off guard. I am not tuned into recruiting, but have the impression that Iowa has a pretty good shot at Bowen, but Isaacs is far less likely. If Self stays with him, it will be hard to beat out the damn Jayhawks for Isaacs.

Its always good to have two guys that can handle the ball and pass. You just need one to be a good shooter. If they can both shoot, well you have Earl Monroe and Walt Frazier.

Obviously you take both if the opportunity presents itself.

The question is will Fran be willing to take that many guards and pass up whatever 6'9 white guy he currently has his eye on in order to take on more speed and quickness.

They were the rare guard duo that couldn't shoot or really penetrate.

They were both very solid defenders though.

Had one of them been able to do one or the other Iowa would have been a really good team that year.
Yep. It looks like Bowen and Isaacs both can drive, shoot, and facilitate offensively. They also look decent defensively as well.

McCaffery is pursuing a number of 6'9"-10" white guys I wouldn't mind having on the team.

With the trouble we’ve had landing one highly sought after point guard what makes you think we could get two? Asking for a friend.

Tell your friend (😉) that you have to offer in order to get even one, much less 2.

I wonder if the staff has told both players we have one scholarship at your position and whomever speaks up first gets it? Lute used that technique during his tenure at Iowa.
